Brookdale First Colony recently hosted a door-to-door Tail Gate Party just in time for football season. Our residents came to their door in true team spirit fashion!
Brookdale First Colony is lucky to have such talented associates. These monthly birthday cards are hand made by Nadia for each of our residents. We have even had some residents frame them and put them up in their homes.
While this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will be different, they continue to be deeply meaningful. They continue to help raise awareness about the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. They continue to help raise funds that make a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s. Brookdale Senior Living Inc. continues to be one of the largest corporate supporters of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year, thousands of Brookdale associates, residents, and patients are participating in or supporting virtual walks across the country. Phoebe is crocheting a special request afghan for her grandson. She said she has a good amount of time on her hands, so it may end up to be king-size!
Our weekend Receptionist Marla saw there was a need for special puzzles for some of our residents with low vision. She decided to take some of our duplicate 300 piece puzzles and make them into 30 piece puzzles and deliver them to their apartments. By gluing pieces together to make larger ones, it made it so much easier for them to puzzle! It is creative associates like Marla who make Brookdale a cut above.
Fall has arrived at First Colony! Betty has created crochet hanging baskets for apartment doors. And the dining room has the beginnings of a pumpkin patch.
Brookdale First Colony had some visitors that have taken up residence in the fountain rather than the guest suite. 🙂

We gathered on this Veterans Day to honor our military personnel. The program included Brookdale resident Darrell, who spoke about his 6 years of service as a Navy pilot, and our Executive Director Eltonette performed a beautiful American trilogy of patriotic songs.
With some restrictions easing at the hospitals, it is time once again to give back to the community. The residents have begun creating these wonderful puppies for children visiting Memorial Hermann Hospital.
These lovely ladies dropped off 80 bags filled with puzzles, games, crosswords, and much more for our residents to enjoy. Thank you very much to Ms. Bailey for contacting Brookdale First Colony as part of your, “Helping Seniors” program. FedEx really does care!

When Bill and Louise began considering senior living options for Bill's sister, Pam, the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine became a major point of interest for their next steps. Now, after receiving the vaccine and transitioning to her new community, Pam is an official resident of Brookdale Cary.
With our staff dressed up as refreshing beverages, we had our Traveling Happy Hour equipped with appetizers, drinks, & music through the halls!
