Residents here at Brookdale Grand Prairie had a terrific “Picnic on the Prairie” dinner last week. The tables were set for scrumptious and cheery picnic meals ending with sweet, juicy watermelon. A warm and wonderful time was had by residents at Brookdale Grand Prairie when we celebrated International Coffee Day! We sipped autumn flavored coffees while savoring delicious pastries in the cozy and inviting loft space. We will have to do this again!
Last week residents at Brookdale Grand Prairie enjoyed an Oktoberfest celebration when they tasted traditional Bavarian cuisine and listened to oompah band and fun cultural music. One of our residents even danced the polka while her walker! A good time was had by all with or without the Oktoberfest beer!

Today Brookdale Grand Prairie held its first annual Chili Cook-Off. It was a huge success with a large turnout of taste testers. Stormie's chili had the most votes! It was fantastic!

Brookdale Grand Prairie’s “Friends for Life “ event this month was a hot cider with donuts social. There were four donut choices and the slow-cooked apple cider was very delicious! This event was well worth repeating!
Once again, Bai, one of Brookdale Grand Prairie's wonderful cooks, wowed us with another great cooking class! This time Bai prepared crispy sweet and sour pork which was attractively served on rice surrounded by a ring of steamed broccoli. Thank you, Bai. You’re the best! Brookdale Grand Prairie had its first COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic last weekend. Nearly all the residents chose to be vaccinated. More staff and residents will be vaccinated at the next clinic in about 3 weeks. It felt like a historic day and we cheered inwardly as we sensed the hope of good changes to come soon!
When Bill and Louise began considering senior living options for Bill's sister, Pam, the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine became a major point of interest for their next steps. Now, after receiving the vaccine and transitioning to her new community, Pam is an official resident of Brookdale Cary.
The CDC strongly recommends the COVID-19 vaccine and it’s so important that as many people as possible get vaccinated. We will be having our second vaccine clinic on February 21 at 12:00 pm for community residents and associates who are interested in receiving their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Connie, a delightful resident at Brookdale Grand Prairie, keeps busy with the things she loves to do. Connie showed her gorgeous counted cross stitch project in progress as well as completed works of art! Beautiful! Connie is also much appreciated for her baking skills and continues to make bread and other delicious goodies to share with friends and family. Presently, Connie is finishing a very sweet baby afghan for a soon to come great grandson! Connie’s outlook on life and how she lovingly touches lives is inspiring!
