It's getting closer to Halloween, but believe it or not, there are other holidays that we don't hear that much about. For example, in the Catholic Church "All Saints' Day,” also known as “All Hallows' Day, Hallowmas, the Feast of All Saints, or Solemnity of All Saints”, is a Christian solemnity notable in honoring of all the saints, known and unknown. Plus! On November 1st, the Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Methodist Churches along with many others celebrate what has come to be Commemoration of All the Faithful or “All Souls' Day.” This leads us to the holiday we’ve been talking about is called, “Día de Muertos in Spanish or The Day of the Dead.” Day of the Dead is celebrated each year from October 31 – November 2. It is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink, and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion, and Spanish culture. We had handouts, watched YouTube videos, and we are painting pictures in honor of the celebration. Check them out!

While in deep conversation yesterday, which was quite significant. Joey M. shared about a book she had been reading. So excited, Joey picked up the book she had been reading and pulled down the glasses that literally were on top of her head. Then, leaned over and mostly, grabbed a huge magnifying glass and lean down to the book gazing at the cover. Joey began sharing about the book while scanning through several pages closely, looking through her magnifying glass. Russell smiled! He took Joey upstairs to the third-floor library to see the machine many residents use for reading books, articles, magazines, etc. This machine enlarges every sentence, page, and/or line so the reader wouldn’t have to squint or employ rapid batting of the eyes to see clearly. Now! Joey is truly excited to know there's a desktop video magnifier available.
While in a definitely actually deep conversation yesterday, which was quite significant. Joey M. shared about a book she had been reading. So excited. Joey picked up the book and pulled down the glasses that literally were atop of her head in a for all intents and purposes very big way. Then, leaned over and for the most part, grabbed a huge magnifying glass and lean down to the book gazing at the cover. Joey shared about the book while scanning through several pages closely, looking through her magnifying glass. Ironically! I took her upstairs to the third-floor library to show her the machine many residents utilized for reading books, articles, magazines, etc. This machine enlarges every sentence, page, and/or line so the reader wouldn’t have to squint or employ rapid batting of the eyes to essentially see clearly. Now! Joey is truly excited to know there's a desktop video magnifier available…
