We started a new travel club at Brookdale Kenosha. The first place we visited was London, England. We began the afternoon by baking cinnamon scones from scratch and enjoying them with coffee as we learned about the history and beauty of London. We were happy to have our lovely Joyce (who is originally from England) teach us the proper way to make scones and tell us about her favorite places in London.
We had a Fall Festival at Brookdale Kenosha to welcome the season. Our event was filled with games and prizes, a guessing booth, caramel apples, apple cider, and of course, lots of dancing! We sure had a blast!
Happy Labor Day to all those who have made contributions to our nation's workforce -- both past and present!
We had a little creative fun for Happy Hour on Friday to end Shark Week! The residents loved the Ocean Water Punch and the Oreo Shark Fin Cupcakes.
Join us for our new webcast series, In the Know, where we feature discussions on different topics to help seniors, families and Brookdale residents live well and age well. As a caregiver, you may often put other people’s needs ahead of your own. While you're going above and beyond during this uncertain time, it’s important to take care of yourself. Burnout can interfere with your ability to provide crisis support during a natural disaster or in times of stress and anxiety. To be an effective caregiver, start with giving yourself some love. These self-care tips may help! BROOKDALE.COM Self-Care for Caregivers During Coronavirus

Yesterday, we held a "Winter Wonderland: Meet Your Management Team" event! Even though it was freezing cold (literally), we had a HUGE turnout! Mother nature provided us with a gorgeous winter scene and visitors were given goody bags and greeting cards made by our very own residents here at Brookdale Kenosha! Thanks to everyone who stopped by! It was wonderful seeing familiar faces and meeting new people.
On Wednesday we spent our afternoon doing a virtual tour of the Museum of American History: Inagural Gowns of the First Ladies Exhibit. We had so much fun viewing all the gowns (and shoes) of the former First Ladies. Our favorites were Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Betty Ford (Laura Bush's gown was also in the running). Since we were so inspired, we decided to design our own dream gowns! We have such talented residents and I think the gowns we designed are better than any gown in the Smithsonian!
One of our dining room servers, Mercedes, has gotten her COVID-19 vaccine. She did it to protect everyone around her!
Welcome, home! Two of our fabulous residents (Carol and Gloria), spent a few afternoons putting their talents to work. This beautiful sign started out as a plain old 2x4, and look what it became! Our lovely ladies chose the design and did the painting! We are so proud of you!! What a TERRIFIC job!
