We played ladder golf and lawn darts this afternoon in the beautiful weather. The residents enjoyed a little bit of competition and fresh air.
Today we made beautiful glass bowls using alcohol ink. The residents love doing this craft because every bowl, even if they use the same colors, are completely different. No two bowls ever turn out the same.
While this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will be different, they continue to be deeply meaningful. They continue to help raise awareness about the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. They continue to help raise funds that make a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s. Brookdale Senior Living Inc. continues to be one of the largest corporate supporters of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year, thousands of Brookdale associates, residents, and patients are participating in or supporting virtual walks across the country.

September 21st was World Gratitude Day. We honored this day by passing out notes of gratitude to our staff and residents, our residents also passed out notes and flowers to the staff and other residents.
Happy Rosh Hashanah! To celebrate the Jewish New Year we served Challah bread dipped in honey and root beer floats.
What’s better than a Piñata Party? A Piñata Party with root beer floats from Nurse on Call, that’s what! The staff and some residents had a great time taking a whack at the piñata, and thanks to Joe for smashing it open, they got to enjoy the spoils of the piñata!
Today we had a lot of fun playing some new games. George discovered that he is an ace at corn hole, Aida is excellent at lawn darts, and neither one of us are good at ring toss. It was a draw when it came to the giant Connect Four.
Of the young adults with autism that pursue further schooling after high school, 75% to 85% are unemployed after graduation. Octogenarian Beverly Ficon is helping change that through her work with Spectrum Works.
