Please join us in helping to raise awareness to help find a cure for Alzheimer's! Did you know that the colors of the flowers each have meaning to their role in Alzheimer's? Orange represents support for the cause, purple symbolizes a loved one lost to the disease, yellow denotes a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia, and blue indicates someone living with the disease.

Sometimes it's the little things! Using the fingers and working on flexibility will help the hands maintain their dexterity for years to come!

Hay, hay there, we are decorating the back entry. Needing a bit o' hay. Does anyone of our family or friends have any bales they would like to share? It would be nice to have 4 but will be so happy to have at least 2 π
This lady is always up to something! She keeps herself busy all the time. She is like a little elf! She is a wiz with counting cribbage hands and states that she never seems to be able to beat herself at solitaire though. She is such a happy person. We can always find a good time with her presence!
Keeping the nails looking good is very important! She loves getting her nails done. She gets them painted a different color every week! She is just tickled. lol
Showing the staff some love! Today we served them homemade parfaits. Yogurt, fresh fruit, granola, and whipped cream to top it off! What a treat!!
This young lady has it going on! She is staying in the loop with her calendar of activities and representing the fight against breast cancer at the same time and looking beautiful while doing it!!
Someone celebrated their 91st birthday yesterday!! She doesn't look a day over 29! π π π π π
What to do on an overcast rainy day? This young lady seems to have a great idea! Reading a good Danielle Steel book by the window as the rain falls while sitting in a nice cozy chair with a warm lap blanket!
We had a happy Halloween π here at Brookdale Puyallup South. The residents were able to see some of the little Ghouls πΉ and Goblins π» coming by to take pictures πΌοΈ and get some yummy treats π from the π³. Yes, you can now say candy π¬ grows on π³ π³ ! π
These ladies were working on making ghosts for the trees for Halloween night! Enjoy some pictures of their hard work and the finished product!
The first employee to receive a "Brookdale Buck"! She is a wonderful, enthusiastic, showstopper of an activity assistant!
The staff get awarded these as they do a great job, go above and beyond, or just to show them they are appreciated. They save these up and can buy things from Jessica's store (our new executive director). This is much like the Brookdale Bucks that the residents receive for winning at Bingo or other things. It's important to keep everyone's morale up!
This past Saturday, our residents received their first round of COVID vaccination!!! Some staff members lined up for vaccination as well! We will look forward to the 2nd round coming February 6th!
Meet Naomi, we are pleased to announce that she is the new Health and Wellness Director at Brookdale Puyallup South. She says that she is extremely excited to be a part of the Brookdale family. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 8 years, the last 5 being a travel nurse. Her clinical background includes ICU, ER, Home health, and a little bit of Long term care. She is excited to bring her experience to the table and grow with her new team. A little about her: she is a mom of two children Piper, who is 6 and Blake, who is 4. She has been married to her wonderful husband for almost 8 years. They have known each other since elementary school. They have one dog, a Maltese, named Alex. Her favorite football team is of course the SEAHAWKS. She loves reading, learning new recipes, and nature.
Efforts towards COVID-19 prevention have become part of our daily lives, and we are so pleased to share that our Brookdale residents and associates are among the first group to have access to a COVID-19 vaccine. We are partnering with CVS Health through the federal governmentβs Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program and will be having our first vaccine clinic this Saturday, January 16th @ 11 am for the Puyallup South community residents and associates who are interested in receiving the vaccine. Together, we can take action to prevent COVID-19. #BrookdaleHope Learn more about the COVID-19 vaccine here:

We have found that most of our residents love media devices. They are interested in how we can see the person on the other side of the phone nowadays. We play around with the filters available on the camera, they love what they see. It is hilarious to watch them experiment with the options. Aren't they the cutest!!
We tried making a favorite recipe of one of our residents. Caramel rum sauce over grilled pineapple with vanilla ice cream! Sounds yummy but we were short on the rum. We always have a great turn out when we are in the kitchen. Even if the recipe goes wrong people love to be there and leave with smiles every time!
