This week's virtual travels took us to the “Beaver State” of Oregon. We visited the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse and learned of its history and how it was built. We took a walk in downtown Portland which was really a sight to see, then we flew over the Three Sisters and took a hike on the Oregon Trail. We saw breathtaking pictures of this beautiful state and learned a lot of interesting facts.
We are ready for the fall harvest. The residents love looking at painted windows.
Barb decided to join our exercise class today with nurse Dee. We were glad she could make it.
We would like to congratulate Sandy Butler as our Everyday Hero for October. Sandy has been cooking up delicious meals for 42 years. The past 7 years she has spent with us. She is our dietary manager, so she is not only a great cook but a great manager and a great part of our team. The residents love her meals. Congratulations Sandy!
We had a great turnout for our morning B-Fit exercise class, followed by a wonderful lunch and an afternoon of hallway bingo. There is always something to keep us entertained.
This beautiful fall weather is bringing these beautiful ladies outdoors.
Today’s virtual travels took us to the Palmetto State, South Carolina. Our first stop was Myrtle Beach for some much needed beach therapy. We then visited Fort Sumter where the Civil Wars first shots were fired. We learned the actual first casualty of the war was during the 100 gun salute... a soldier was hit in the head by shrapnel from an accidental discharge of a cannon. It was an interesting trip.
Happy Birthday to these lovely ladies who were born in October. We had a nice celebration for them today.
We watched funny animal videos before lunch and the movie Beni after lunch. The residents love anything to do with animals.

Today we celebrated Oktoberfest with our virtual volunteers from Earlham College. They went above and beyond to make this a special day for our residents. We even had authentic German food and beer. They joined us via Zoom. It was a great time.
FaceTime, window visits, flowers, and cake made this resident's 99th birthday a happy day. Happy birthday Ruby!

While some residents kept busy reading or coloring, others took a virtual trip to Tennessee. The residents toured Graceland, Ruby Falls, Rock City, Nashville, and more.
One on one sewing projects are a big hit with some of our residents. They love reminiscing about the quilts and clothes they used to make.
Nothing better on a snowy day than Shirley Temple on TV, a warm cat on your lap, and a sewing project to keep you busy.
Marketing our crafting skills at local Senior Centers is always a good time.
Our staff and residents have taken the first step in fighting this awful virus, Covid-19. They are all superheroes. Hopefully, together we can knock this virus out.
One of our dining room servers, Mercedes, has gotten her COVID-19 vaccine. She did it to protect everyone around her!
Celebrating 90 years with this wonderful woman. Incidentally she was quite a few of our staffs elementary school teacher. She had family from near and far wishing her a happy day. She had a great time.
