As a caregiver, you may often put other people’s needs ahead of your own. While you're going above and beyond during this uncertain time, it’s important to take care of yourself. Burnout can interfere with your ability to provide crisis support during a natural disaster or in times of stress and anxiety. To be an effective caregiver, start with giving yourself some love. These self-care tips may help!

When Jack York, iN2L's co-founder and president, saw that conventional technology was too difficult for most older adults to use meaningfully, he decided to find a way to make it accessible for all levels of physical and cognitive ability. We are thrilled to have him join Brookdale’s Director of Dementia Care and Programs, Juliet Holt-Klinger to discuss the use of technology to create personalized experiences that engage and connect older adults to their loved ones for our webinar on November 18th. Honoring our beloved resident veterans today. We wanted to show off pictures of some of our brave veterans. Today, we had a pinning ceremony, followed by patriotic hymns and praise music led by Tom via Zoom. The residents were also surprised by tons of love letters and notes from our The Goddard School of Austin Pre-Kindergarten friends as well as The Lake Travis High School friends.

Music therapy is more than just listening to great songs... music is life itself...it brought lots of smiles, great stories, but most of all music creates connection that tapped on our residents greatest memories and brought joy in our residents hearts.

This rag doll was our conversation piece at our new weekly antique Show n Tell. It was actually made for Margie when she was born, but it lasted long enough to be played with by her daughter Pam. It is nearly 100 years old.
Rosa is proud to have been able to receive the COVID-19 vaccination! Way to go, Rosa! 🎉 #BrookdaleHope
Dan’s been using the same eyeglasses for more than 20 years but this time it’s unfortunate that his eyeglasses were broken and irreparable. Shoutout to Lifetime Vision Care of Round Rock.... they’ve been nothing but a blessing to us. From a very smooth and orderly eye check-up appointment to finding a very similar eyeglass frame and not only that, but Miss. Brooke even came to our community to have Dan’s eyeglasses hand-delivered so our residents don't need to travel.
Thank you again Lifetime Vision for all the things that you do for the community.
