Residents are so happy to have their Bingo back. They wear their mask and are 6-ft apart, but as long as they can hear the Bingo caller everyone is happy.
Here at Brookdale Santa Fe, we keep our Assistant Living residents engaged in fun activities. It could be painting a birdhouse for the courtyard or making an art project for a family member. Whatever the resident enjoys doing.
We appreciate all you do to make life better for our residents. Employees at Brookdale work as a team to make our residents happy and enjoy their time at their new home.
Arsenio Montez celebrated his 99th birthday. He is smiling underneath his mask. He looks wonderful; such a happy soul.
Flowers For Santa Fe, a project of the Santa Fe Artists Medical Fund and Artisan Art Supply of Santa Fe. It's a group of local artists who started a project of painting pictures of flowers to cheer our seniors up. Such a selfless act of kindness during these troubled times. Today they dropped off several of these beautiful paintings and greeting cards for our residents in Assisted Living. It will brighten our residents' rooms and start a great conversation. Thank you much Joseph and all the artists of Santa Fe involved with this project.
We can't go to the beach in New Mexico, but our residents still love working with the sea shells. They are so proud of their work.
Every year for 5 years Brookdale Santa Fe has been involved with our local Food Bank in Santa Fe. This year because of the circumstances we were not able to collect food in our facility. So residents gave check donations that where passed onto the Food Bank. The Santa Fe Food Bank collects food for our local community. They also deliver food to those in need that are house bound. Here at Brookdale we collected $335.00. This will allow the Food Bank to purchase 1,675 pounds of food for the needy. We are so proud of our generous residents.
This year Brookdale decided to reach out to our local police department and instead of giving them the usual breakfast burritos. We decided to give them coffee and Brookdale muffins. We also donated several new stuffed bears. The officers use the bears for children under stressful situations. We appreciate all that they do for our community.
Veterans Day was a quiet day here at Brookdale. We celebrated by giving our vets some great gift bags, a special thank you for their service.
A wonderful family from Brookdale gave all the employees a cookie for Halloween. They all have funny sayings on them. It arrived after Halloween, but it still gave all the employees a laugh.
Snow came early to Santa Fe. All the decorations are covered but that's okay, the New Mexico sun will melt it all. These great winter photos were taken by Brookdale resident Allen.
Brookdale had a few of our Assisted Living residents decorate their doors. Very spooky!
Even the Brookdale pets are getting their photos taken for the holiday.
Brookdale Santa Fe really went all out before the snow showed up to decorate for Halloween.
For Activity Professional Week, our activity staff received special tee shirts. They have been working so hard to keep our residents safe and happy. It has been a very rough year for everyone, but they have pulled together as a team. We have a Happy Hour cart that goes around the building every Friday. We are also putting up a Friendship Chain all around the building with Lace Hearts. On each heart are the residents' wish for the future. The Friendship Chain will connect through-out the whole building on all 3 floors. We have already received wonderful compliments on the bright colors.
We had our Covid clinic today. Everything went very well. Our first employee to receive the vaccination was Shirley from Assistant Living. Our residents that are in their hundreds went next. Marion who is a 103, Dorothy who is 101, and Arsenio who is 100. Everyone said they didn't feel a thing and were actually smiling under their mask.
Our new Independent Resident Gloria loves to make her crafts. Most of the time she sends them to family members.
The holidays at Santa Fe Brookdale were celebrated with laughter and joy! Activities passed out hot chocolate and sugar cookies! We had some nice snack bags and Christmas socks. Fred Rael the maintenance manager won the Ugly Sweater Contest. All the managers pitched in as a team to help make the residents' holidays merry.
This year at Brookdale Santa Fe, we decided to put a theme Christmas tree on each floor. On the first floor is a maroon and gold tree, and on the second floor there is a pink and white tree, the third floor as an all white tree. The residents have really enjoyed the decorations this year.
