While this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will be different, they continue to be deeply meaningful. They continue to help raise awareness about the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. They continue to help raise funds that make a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s. Brookdale Senior Living Inc. continues to be one of the largest corporate supporters of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year, thousands of Brookdale associates, residents, and patients are participating in or supporting virtual walks across the country.

Thank you to all that helped us celebrate our residents and associates. Without your help and participation, our week long celebration wouldn't have been as successful.

Check out our new door decor. Our Memory Care residents enjoyed spending time making these to decorate their apartment doors. Aren't they fun?
Y'all, these retro handset iPad phones are a game-changer. We've been doing consistent virtual visits for the last 8 months, and they have been going well. We purchased this phone recently as it has been a struggle for some to be able to hear and understand all this new technology. We figured buying the phone would make it easier to understand on the technology end as they can hold the phone, just like they would a regular phone call. The phone is working out great, and we will continue to use it for our residents that want to use it as it has made their virtual visits so much better since they can hear so much better on it.
We recently talked about the things we are most grateful for. To follow, we made gratitude trees. Our Assisted Living residents had a good time doing this craft, as you can tell by their smiles as they were writing the things they're most grateful for. They each got to take their tree's back to their apartments and most of them have them sitting on their end tables, so they can see them every day.
Our Memory Care residents enjoyed making these fun acorn snacks made of nutter butter bites, chocolate frosting, chocolate sprinkles & a pretzel. After making them, they got to enjoy the taste of them as well. All approved of the sweet snack.
We are getting into the Thanksgiving spirit. At our most recent Happy Hour, we served hot cocoa and homemade pumpkin mousse, made by our Assisted Living residents. We made sure to have the mini marshmallows for the hot cocoa because it's not hot cocoa without them. We served the pumpkin mousse with ginger snaps.

Recently, for My Life Story, we were reminiscing about the Good Old Days and it turned into our small group of residents getting some foreign language taught to us. Julie sang for us in Russian and Sid taught us some Lebanese words.
The group enjoyed it and it brought some big smiles to Julie & Sid's faces.
Check out our splash/ splat art. Some of our residents in Memory Care had fun creating their own colorful creations.

Sweet and delicate gingerbread flavors mingle with our coffee & milk, topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Our Assisted Living residents really enjoyed this hot specialty on this cold winter day.
