Brookdale West Seattle Psychedelic Art Car Show
There is some disagreement as to what precisely led to the growth of the art car subculture. It can be seen as a twining together of several influences: the hippie-themed VWs of the late 1960s, the lowrider, as well as a Merry Pranksters' creation, the decorated school bus known as Further.
During the late 1960s, singer Janis Joplin had a psychedelically-painted Porsche 356 and John Lennon, a paisley Rolls Royce. Well, West Seattle Art Cars topped these celebrities by far with their decked out rocket ship and bubble truck!! Great fun for our residents!
This year, Walk to End Alzheimer’s is everywhere — on every sidewalk, track and trail. On event day, we invite you to participate in small, safe teams while others in your community do the same. Brookdale West Seattle’s ED made the residents breakfast while we watched the Kickoff party. Afterward we waved flags as we walked around the block. Cheers to all who participated!
Three days of rain, end of the week, what better way to put a cap on Friday than a good old-fashioned Ink & Drink! Residents had great fun selecting temporary tattoos to apply while sipping favorite drinks, nibbling party mix, and enjoying each other's company while old videos played on the big screen. We sure do like our Happy Hours here at Brookdale West Seattle.
While this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will be different, they continue to be deeply meaningful. They continue to help raise awareness about the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. They continue to help raise funds that make a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s. Brookdale Senior Living Inc. continues to be one of the largest corporate supporters of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year, thousands of Brookdale associates, residents, and patients are participating in or supporting virtual walks across the country.

Our salon reopened today! Throw all those hairclips, barrettes, and headbands back into the drawers and let the short hairdos shine. Our residents feel light and wonderful again.
Our dining room is open for lunch! How wonderful to see so many familiar faces in the familiar room, rearranged to reflect the new safety standards.
Yo ho yo ho a pirate's Halloween! Thar's a rabble of scurvy scallywags walking the plank in the very mouth of the shark. Nary a soul went to Davy Jones' locker in all the hurly burly, as our residents guzzled their grog.
Our favorite associates! Grace and Elleni earned Service Heroes awards for all their hard work and dedication, as well as the huge smiles they convey behind those masks. We love that you chose Brookdale West Seattle. Thank you for all you do!

Wishing you all a safe, spooky, and spectacular Halloween!
A great idea that got better: Pam and other residents baked cookies for care packages going out in November. We overshot the time and ran into Happy Hour. Who knew fresh-baked cookies, still warm from the oven, would go so great with adult beverages and chatter? Now everyone here at Brookdale West Seattle knows it's true. Oh well -- we'll bake more next time to make up for all the delights we gobbled down today.

When Bill and Louise began considering senior living options for Bill's sister, Pam, the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine became a major point of interest for their next steps. Now, after receiving the vaccine and transitioning to her new community, Pam is an official resident of Brookdale Cary.
