Covid-19 etiquette: A comprehensive guide
Now that we've managed to wrap our brains around this new norm, the medical community has gone to great lengths to stress the importance of continuing to manage chronic conditions and not avoid regularly scheduled, preventative appointments. According to the AMA, new cancer diagnoses have dramatically declined (see link in the comments) but as this article points out: "...just because in-person visits took a break, that doesn't mean diseases did." Please do not hesitate to schedule and keep your appointments. We are doing everything in our power to make any required in-person visits as safe as possible. We are committed to your health!

COVID IMMUNIZATION UPDATE
This evening, we attended a webinar on vaccine distribution with the State Health Director and Chief Medical Office of NC DHHS Dr. Betsey Tilson and other NC DHHS leaders. Key takeaway points include:
***We must continue to focus on the prevention of transmission, especially in our vulnerable populations. This means continuing to adhere to the partial stay at home order and the three Ws: Wash, Wait and Wear.
***As a state, we are moving into Phase 1b, making many of you eligible to receive the vaccine, however, availability remains a substantial obstacle. There simply is not enough supply at the moment for all eligible persons.
***On Monday, our office will begin the onboarding process to be a vaccine provider when the vaccine does become more widely available. In the meantime, you may be able to secure an appointment with local health departments and hospitals. Go to YourShotYourSpot.nc.gov to find your local health department or hospital or call the COVID-19 Line 1-877-490-6642. It鈥檚 a free call.
***Finally, we strongly encourage you to get vaccinated. Getting the vaccine will help us all get back to life with family and friends, while also providing the peace of mind that you鈥檙e protected and protecting others from getting sick from COVID-19.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
COVID-19 VACCINATIONS:
Although the state has reprioritized vaccination distribution, not everyone is moving directly into Phase 1b. Many areas across the state have not received enough vaccine to complete Phase 1a. As of today, Brunswick and New Hanover Counties have not given a timeframe but hope to in the coming days. We will push information out to all patients as soon as we get it.
NO IN-OFFICE APPOINTMENTS:
For the time being, with few exceptions, we are not doing face to face appointments. Our percent positive rate has reached as high as 16.5% and we must put your health and safety, as well as ours, first. The numbers are much higher than last spring and rising rapidly. It is more important now, than ever before, to be diligent and follow all safety guidelines and CDC recommendations. These include staying at home if at all possible. With telehealth, we are able to do that in most cases. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
