Maine CDC Urges Precautions As Tick Activity Increases
The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) urges the public to take precautions against ticks in October and November, when the state typically experiences a second peak in adult deer tick activity. Deer ticks can carry the germs that cause tickborne diseases such as Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis. These germs spread through the bite of an infected deer tick. Deer ticks are most commonly found in wooded, leafy, and shrubby areas, including in areas around the yard. This means most Mainers are at risk of tick bites every day. Read more here.

On #NationalPetObesityAwarenessDay, here's a helpful reminder on the caloric equivalent that one small human snack means for your pet.
Excess weight can reduce your pet’s life expectancy by more than two years. Keeping your pet at a healthy weight lowers his/her risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory disease, kidney disease, and some forms of cancer.

And thanks to our amazing veterinarians. Years of rigorous (and expensive) schooling, putting the history, signs and diagnostic tests together to determine the proper plan while seeing a variety of other cases and pets. Performing life saving surgeries, administrating vaccines, teaching owners proper pet care, and helping clients through end of life decisions. Some super hero capes have pet fur and slobber on them 🥰
We often are complimented on our friendly front staff/receptionists. We are very proud of them!
Somehow they manage to keep a smile on their face while juggling many tasks. They are handling multiple phone lines, checking clients in and out, fielding many questions and keep the schedule going. Thank you
I do want to stress how important our technicians/nurses are though and these graphics sum it up. They do so much and give so much of their hearts- they are extraordinary!🎉

We want you to have a great Thanksgiving, so we thought it would be helpful to give everyone a reminder of what dogs can and cannot indulge in during #Thanksgiving dinner! Of course, we’ve probably all snuck our dogs some mashed potatoes or ham, but we don’t want to give them too much due to the high fat and sodium content. Things like desserts, we worry about the xylitol. Dog should never have raw dough, the yeast continues to convert the sugar into carbon dioxide and alcohol in the dogs stomach, which is very dangerous!
If you’re worried your dog got into something potentially harmful, having the Pet Poison Helpline or your local 24 hour emergency vet’s number readily available is a great idea!
The hustle and bustle of the holidays can mean distracted pet parents and loving, albeit misguided, extended family members. This handout can remind your clients and their family of some of the common dangers to pets during the holiday season.
Remember Baxter waiting patiently curbside for his appointment? Well he’s also very talented (and on trend!)
Ensure your cat is up to date! Have questions regarding your specific cat? Make an appointment to discuss your cats life style.
Hello Friends!
As covid-19 cases surge across our state, we continue to offer veterinary care for your pets through curbside service. We require that when you are interacting with our staff, exchanging your pet or products, you please wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth.
If you are showing symptoms of Covid 19 have tested positive within 14 days, or traveled outside the state of Maine, we are asking that you please reschedule your pets appointments until after the quarantine period is over. If your pet is having a medical emergency, please do your best to find someone who is not ill to bring your pet to us.
We realize this situation is not ideal for every pet or owner, however we need to keep our staff safe. We appreciate your patience as we continue to try to find ways to make our curbside service the best it can possibly be.

During Women's History Month, we're remembering and honoring the powerful stories of women in veterinary history. The story of Dr. Maria van Maltzan is certainly one of the most unique.
Shortly after the Nazis seized power in Germany in 1933, Dr. von Maltzan became an active member of the German resistance, helping hundreds of Jews avoid capture and escape the country. She said she learned the skills she used to deceive German intelligence officers while secretly studying to become a veterinarian against the wishes of her mother. #womenshistorymonth
