The Pender County Clerk of Superior Court's Office is Closed for the remainder of this week (September 21-25) due to a Covid-19 outbreak within the Office. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to be back open Monday September 28, 2020 to be able to resume normal business. If you have a filing that needs to be done this week please feel free to use our drop box on the front door of our office located at 102 S Walker Street Burgaw, NC 28425. Missing court without having an attorney in place can result in major consequences. Depending on what you’ve been charged with (misdemeanor/felony v. infraction) you can either receive an Order for Arrest or a Failure to Appear. The DMV can also suspend your license.
If you have trouble remembering when your next court date is, check out this link! You can receive email/text notifications every time your court date updates.
If you are a client, we will always keep track of your pending court date. However, it’s always a good idea to make sure you have the date on your calendar as well!

Holiday Hours:
Starting Monday, December 21, the office will be operating on a half-day schedule, from 8:30am until 12:30pm.
We will be closed December 24-28, and Friday, January 1.
Normal business hours will resume on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Chief Justice Beasley issued another emergency directive postponing non-essential court cases until January 14.
All non-jail cases until January 14 will be continued. We will do our absolute best to update you as to the status of your case! Once the clerk's office has entered the new date, you can find it at: http://www1.aoc.state.nc.us/www/calendars/CriminalQuery.html.
We will also do our best to timely dispose of any cases that were set to be scheduled during the closure.

Happy first day of December! Today marks a day of big changes here in NC.
1) New expungement laws are in effect! Individuals who have been previously convicted of certain misdemeanors or felonies may now be eligible for an expungement, where they have been previously barred. This is major for cleaning your record up!!
2) There is now a limited driving privilege that can be obtained if the basis of the license suspension is solely based on failure to pay court costs/fines.
3) Court costs have gone up, most of which are by $3.00. For a lot of the cases handled in this office, please note that Improper Equipments are now $266 and court costs for deferred prosecutions/conditional discharges (drinking tickets, fake IDs, first time drug offenses, etc) are now $183.00
