Mouthwash is a surefire way to freshen your breath. Use a mouthwash that is sugar and alcohol-free. Sugar is already bad for your teeth and we all know that alcohol stings. Too much alcohol can actually dry out the tissues in your mouth and make them more susceptible to bacteria.

The two most crucial times to brush your teeth for maximum care is right when you wake up and right before you go to bed. Saliva acts as a plaque deterrent, so when it dries up at night, plaque is more likely to build upon your teeth.

The only time you should keep your toothbrush covered with a cap or container is when you are traveling. Otherwise, store them upright and let them air dry after each use. When you store them in containers or cap them, bacteria can grow on them.

Happy #flossfriday! Flossing your teeth is vital for healthy mouths. Toothbrushes can't reach those tight spaces between your teeth. Floss gently and take it one tooth at at time. This should be done daily with your brushing routine-- it doesn't matter if you floss or brush first.
Although smoking is more popularly known to increase risks for oral cancer, smoking can reduce oral health in a number of ways. The effects of smoking within the body including effects on blood vessels and the immune system can also lead to poor oral health.

Remember this helpful piece of advice if a permanent tooth is ever knocked out: hold the tooth by the crown, not the root, place the tooth in a glass of milk or at the very least keep it moist with water then get to your dentist as quickly as possible.
