Dear Butler Orthodontics Community,
The Office of the Governor has notified us that the State of Nebraska intends to remove the COVID 19 related restrictions on dental treatment effective May 4th. As of this update on 4/28/20 we intend to do a "soft start" reopening at Butler Orthodontics beginning Monday May 4th. This means we will be starting with a lower than normal patient volume, and gradually increasing over the coming weeks. These circumstances can change at a moment's notice, but as of now we are confident that we will be able to resume patient care at that time. Until that day we continue to operate on an emergency only basis.
The schedulers will be contacting everyone to get patients back on the schedule. As we reopen, please be aware that many of your fellow patient's have also had their appointments displaced in the last couple months. It will take time to fully work through the backlog, especially given that we will not be operating at full volume initially. We intend to open additional clinic hours beyond our normal to help speed the process. The fewer broken appliances we need to see, the faster we can get everyone back in - so this is an especially important time to practice adherence to the list of foods to avoid!
An unfortunate and unforeseen consequence of this situation is that we will be temporarily unable to take advantage of our normal operations at our Kearney location. Therefore we invite all patients normally seen at the Kearney location to visit us at our Grand Island office. We will of course inform everyone when we are able to resume operations in Kearney.
The health and safety of our patients, staff, and community are our foremost concern. We do not return to business as usual, and we do not do so hastily or without thorough consideration of the scientific data emerging regarding the current pandemic. We have always practiced universal precautions in our offices. Every instrument is sterilized, and every touched surface disinfected between patients. Now, and for the foreseeable future, we will be stepping up our precautions to the maximum practical level. Some of these changes will be felt as an inconvenience or burden, but we ask you to please bear with us as our intention is to maximize the safety of our patients and staff while we attend to our community's orthodontic needs. Some changes you must be aware of:
We require that a CDC produced screening form be completed for each patient for each visit - this can be found linked near the top of our website main page at http://www.butlerorthodontics.com. If you provide yes answers to any of the screening questions, please call so that we may determine if we need to postpone your appointment. Print the completed for and bring with to each appointment. In short, if you are experiencing flu like symptoms, cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, or have been exposed or tested positive for COVID 19, please call to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
Staff will be utilizing increased levels of protective equipment for their safety and that of their patients
We ask that only the patient enter the building, unless a guardian is requested or otherwise required
Family members are asked to kindly remain in their vehicle
You must arrive at least 3 minutes early to your appointment to accommodate increased screening times
Upon arriving prior to your appointment, please send a text message to 308-381-8150 stating your full name and that you have arrived, then remain in your vehicle - this is how you will check in.
3 minutes prior to your designated appointment time you will receive another text that you may enter the building
EVERYONE ENTERING THE BUILDING IS REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK - a homemade mask is fine. If you do not have a mask, we can provide one for you, but a fee of $1.25 will be charged. Please don't take a mask if you don't need one - there are not enough to go around.
Upon entering, staff will take your temperature and review your screening form to clear you for treatment
You will notice some changes to our building aimed at reducing the possibility of people coming in contact with contaminated surfaces, like no chairs in the waiting room - we ask that those who are in that room maintain spacing of at least 6 feet.
We will continue to avoid certain procedures deemed high risk of spreading aerosols whenever practical until the spread of the disease in our community is more contained
Patients will schedule visits on the way out, and if the time assigned does not work, you may call to reschedule
Whenever practical, please make payments over the phone rather than in person.
A final note - due to the high prevalence of the virus among those associated with the Swift meat packing plant, we have made the difficult decision to continue to temporarily postpone routine treatment for the employees of JBS, those who live in close quarters with them, and those who have had close contact with them. If this describes you or your child, please make the schedulers aware of this should they call you to try and schedule. We don't anticipate this postponement to extend beyond June 4th, 2020. We will be continually re-assessing the situation in the coming weeks to determine if we can bring these patients in sooner and we apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. Please bear with us as we continue to attempt to navigate this difficult situation.
