Before reviewing the damage of your property, ensure you wear proper protective gear for your hands and feet, and do not remove any potential dangerous materials. Leave that for the professionals!

Action #2 – Communicate with Family Members or Friends and Neighbors
Check in with your neighbors and friends who may have experienced damage during this time as well! Let them know you are safe and make sure they are too.

Action #3 – Take Safe Actions to Mitigate Further Damage
BE CAREFUL. If you can safely protect your possessions from additional damage, for example, elevate possessions to tables or shelves from floors, turn off electric power and water, stack furniture, cover damaged windows and doors or employ other simple but effective ways to lessen additional damage. Do not attempt to cover roofs, or perform other dangerous tasks. Wait for professional help.

Action #4 – Document All Damage
Contact your insurance company and begin the process of documenting your damage and losses. Use photos and make lists of all damaged possessions and structure damage. If you have access to video, use video with voice-over descriptions of damage. Do not attempt to record roof damage unless you can do so from the ground or have access to a drone camera.
