October is National Fire Safety and Prevention Month. Does your family have a Home Fire Escape Plan? 71% of Americans have an escape plan in case of fire, but only 47% have practiced them. Would your family know what to do if they heard the fire alarm go off?
Here are some steps to help create a Fire Safety Plan if an Alarm goes off in your home-
1. Get out quickly and stay out.
2. If there is smoke, get low to the ground until you get out of the house.
3. Meet your family members at a pre-planned safe spot.
4. Call 911 from the safety of a neighbor's house.
It is important to prepare a fire safety plan for your family and practice it. Let's hope you never need to use it but better to create a plan to avoid panic in the event of an emergency.
