After having a surgical procedure, your behavior plays an important role in your recovery timeline. Here are a few things you probably didn't realize can make your recovery longer than it should be: ❌ Returning to work too soon. ❌ Staying stationary for too long. ❌ Not eating enough food or drinking enough water. ❌ Skipping out on physical therapy. ❌ Not taking your prescribed medications.
Physician Assistants, or PAs, practice medicine in every specialty on healthcare teams with physicians and other healthcare providers. There is a free health resource at your local pharmacy—your pharmacist. That’s according to Robert Quintana, PharmD, Pharmacy Director at CCMH. “It’s also important to review any possible interactions with other medications or foods,” said Robert. “We can contact their doctor if there are questions as well. One of the reasons that people have to be readmitted to the hospital is that they don’t pick up, or don’t take the medicine they are prescribed on discharge. That’s why it’s so important to get medications right.” Check out the tips he recommends here: www.cchwyo.org/news/2020/october/pharmacists-are-a-free-health-resource/ #pharmacy #gillettewy #cchealth #medications #Rx #medicine #pharmacist CCHWYO.ORG Pharmacists are a free health resource

From Campbell County, Wyoming Government: Over the last month, we have watched a dramatic rise in the coronavirus impact across Wyoming and Campbell County in nearly every major metric: www.ccgov.net/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1427 The key points to know if you have had close contact (close contact is defined as being less than six feet for more than 15 minutes) with someone who has tested positive: • A public health representative may not call you. • You should quarantine for 14 days after your last exposure. Quarantine means staying at home and not having contact with others, except if you need medical care. • Do not go to school or work. If you were notified by someone who tested positive for COVID-19 that you are a contact and you need a letter to quarantine for work or school, please email wdh.covid19@wyo.gov. • Avoid public spaces, public activities and group gatherings. • If possible, separate from others in your home by sleeping in a separate bedroom and maintain six feet of distance from household members. • Monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days after the last day you were in contact with the person with COVID-19. • COVID-19 tests are available to Wyoming residents at no cost and insurance is not necessary. • If you develop symptoms, even if symptoms are only mild, you should isolate yourself from others, including others who live or spend time in your home. Call your healthcare provider and let them know you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. #covid19 #gillettewyoming #gillettewy #wyoming #publichealth

Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses—flu is caused by infection with influenza viruses and COVID-19 is caused by infection with a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. According to the CDC, there are some key differences between the two illnesses: COVID-19 seems to spread more easily than flu and causes more serious illnesses in some people. It can also take longer before people show symptoms and people can be contagious for longer. There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, but there is one to protect against the flu. Getting your flu shot is more important than even this year. The flu vaccine is safe and reliable, and can prevent you and your loved ones from getting the flu. Everyone age six months and older should get a flu shot. You can get a flu shot as part of your regular healthcare appointment or just receive the vaccine, and clinic staff can file your insurance. Make an appointment with your healthcare provider today or save your place in line at the Walk-in Clinic: www.cchwyo.org/wic. Flu vaccination is available at all our clinics for only $40. Meet Carrie Snyder, the Laboratory Supervisor at CCMH. Carrie received her bachelors of science in microbiology from the University of Wyoming. She’s worked at CCH for 15 years, but has been in the health care profession for 17 years. Carrie was inspired to work in health care because she always loved science. “I took a microbiology class in college and I was hooked. Microbiology led me to laboratory science which inspired a career to becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) which is centralized around many disciplines of science,” she says. When asked who her health care heroes are, Carrie says that she can’t pin down just one person. “It would be a combination of teachers and professors, family, friends and co-workers,” she says. When she’s not at work, Carrie says that she loves sports, especially the competitive kind. “My favorite sport is softball/baseball. I also enjoy coaching, camping, hiking, hunting, traveling and attending Rockies games with my husband and two daughters,” she says. We asked Carried what she likes most about working at CCH, and what excellence every day means to her. Check out her response: https://www.cchwyo.org/news/2021/february/thanks-for-working-here-this-week-carrie-snyder-/ Thank you, Carrie, for helping to take care of our patients with excellence.
