Painting the Iconographic Murals at Saint Gregory Palamas Monastery
St. Paul Lutheran in Bucyrus, Oh & St. Joseph in Springfield, Oh were a couple churches we worked on recently. Both involved plaster restoration and both have historical significance in the state. Glad we were able to assist with the restoration process!
We are still quite a ways from finishing the project..but we anticipate another 20 weeks roughly till our work is complete. More pictures to come soon! *GC - The Heiss Company.
Here's a sneak peek at our current project. We've begun the installation of the decorative plaster moldings onto the coffered ceiling. Pieces were made and cast on site. Approx. 80-90 pieces will be made to fit the design laid out in the drawings. Once complete this ceiling will be impressive to say the least.
The barrel ceiling consists of new lath and plaster. Next, decorative plaster molds were ran in place across the ceiling, interweaving each other to create a crisscross effect. It'll be painted once the plaster cures out.
We will be posting more pictures with updates in the weeks to come! *GC - The Heiss Company.
We restored a damaged piece of art over the course of 2 weekends. An old plaster relief was brought to our shop by the owners. We dug out cracks deep into the piece and reapplied new plaster onto areas we took out or that were missing. A wet sanding technique was used to shape plaster back to original. On the backside some burlap and plaster was added to reinforce weak areas.
This piece was a replica (obviously,) but nonetheless a fun piece to restore! Owners think the piece is 1920's.

This week we started repairs at St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington, Oh. This church was founded in 1804 and has historical significance here in Columbus. We'll be doing major repairs in the sanctuary and in several other areas of the church.
This month we're celebrating 10yrs in business! Here's to another 10yrs.. 🍾🥂
This week we return to St. John's Episcopal in Worthington, Oh. This is phase two of the plaster restoration in the church. We anticipate large areas of plaster to come out and repairs will take place over the next several weeks.
This week we started plaster restoration in a stairwell that was severely water damaged at West High-school. Should have this wrapped up in a couple weeks.
