Candella's Farm River Road, Marcy, NY is pleased to be offering again this year Harvest Box Fresh – a weekly box of local farm fresh produce. Candella's Farm is welcoming you back to the 2021 Harvest Box Fresh program. We thank you for your participation last year and look forward to 2021!
The Candella Family hopes everyone is healthy as we look forward to longer days and sunshine! We are planning for another harvest here at Candella’s Farm with ordering seeds, preparing the greenhouses to start plants for the field, crop locations and watching the weather for how soon we can get into the fields. We have spent a lot of time reviewing last year's Harvest Box program. Sign ups will be open to last year’s participants first. The initial sign up period is now til April 17th; then we will open it up to others who wish to join. We do plan to cap the number of boxes so the sooner you get your application and payment in the better. We ask that all applications and payments be mailed in or if you prefer to drop off at the Farmstand we will post on Facebook times for Saturdays and Sundays you can stop by and hand in to us.
We are putting in place a few changes – pick up will be on Tuesdays and Saturdays. We will not be holding boxes if you cannot make your assigned day and also we will not be calling if you do not come; we apologize for this but it became too challenging. Boxes not picked up on designated date will be donated to food pantries that we work with. Full payment will be required up front. The program will run from the week of July 12th to September 25th. A tremendous amount of thought was put into how to make the program run smoother. We are also exploring issuing plastic carriers that need to be returned weekly.
The cost is $199 for a regular box with a weekly value of $20.
The large box will cost $349 with a weekly value of $40.
As the grower, the box will be filled with what is in peak production. There will be standard items such as leaf items, cucumbers, onions, squash, tomatoes and peppers. We are also reviewing our seed purchasing and planned fields to introduce different and unique items. We are also looking to not do swaps at this point as we offered last year.
No refunds once you sign up. Everyone who signs up acknowledges due to the inherent risks of farming, there are no guarantees on the specific produce that they will receive due to weather extremes, insects, and/or other production factors. We have safe food handling procedures in place to protect the produce; from harvesting, to washing & packing to distribution.

Early: lettuce, beans, peas, kale, herbs, lettuce bowls, greens, pickles, zucchini, beans, baby root veggies like radishes, summer squash and beets Mid: tomatoes, beans, broccoli, summer squash, cauliflower, corn, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, hot & sweet peppers Late: winter squash, corn, kale, cabbage, root veggies like beets or carrots, onions, apples, peppers, fall pears, pie pumpkins
