Even though the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta has been cancelled, there are still some organized balloon launches happening tomorrow through next weekend. Balloons will be launching from several different parks in the city for all to enjoy from their homes. But remember - just because we like the balloons doesn't mean your pets do! Big, colorful, floating orbs that make loud noises are understandably scary to our pets who don't know they are not a threat! Today we would like to honor our friend Boromir. Boromir, or "Bo", was able to light up a room with his smile. When his humans brought him to daycare, he would greet us all with little howls and a wiggly butt, ready for scratching. The handsome boy crossed the rainbow bridge last month after a 2 and a half year battle with cancer. We miss him with all our hearts, and our sympathies are with his family ❤

~ Bring your pets inside where they are safe from the festivities & the cold!
~ In NM, NYE means fireworks & gunshots! This is super scary for our dogs & dangerous! Ensure they are safely contained & away from harm. Make sure your doggie doors are locked down for the night.
~ Make sure your pets have proper fitting collars & current ID tags at all times! Is their microchip registration info up to date?
~ Keep alcohol & other party favors away from your pets! This could result in a trip the the emergency room.
~ Do not drink & drive...pets are family & they depend on you to come home <3
~ If your Dog goes missing, contact your local shelter right away & send an email to MyDogIsMissing@nmdog.org for tips on getting them home.
~ If you see a lost Dog, scoop them up & keep them safe so they can be reunited with their family. Have them scanned for a microchip & file a report with your local shelter.

Do you remember Comanche? He was the pup we were taking care of late last year for our friends at NMDOG while they secured a foster home for him. Seems like I say it allllllll of the time but truly, we have THE most amazing Dogs 💕& COMANCHE is one extra special, super amazing Husky! "Chill" is his name & being a good boy is his game!! Why anyone would even think to put him on a chain, we will just never understand. With a little help from Angels watching over him, COMANCHE got himself out of that ridiculous predicament & landed on all 4 paws!!
It was a cold, frozen, wet night when Moriarty Animal Control Officer Worely spotted COMANCHE running in the rain, dragging his tether. She scooped him up (he basically jumped in her unit & started driving lol), got him safely tucked in w PD for the evening, then got to work on his behalf. COMANCHE was microchipped through a different group which led a hopeful Officer Worley to his adopter for a reasonable answer. But unfortunately, COMANCHE was tethered for the same old excuses..."keeps escaping", "not enough time", "too active", "sheds too much", etc, etc, etc :( #ThenDontGetaHusky #ItsNotRocketScience
But everything changed that cold night for COMANCHE & just like that, he became a treasured #NMDOG pack member. He spent some time with our friends at Canine Country Club - Westside & it didnt take anyone long to realize what an absolute gem of a Dog he was. A huge #AllPawsHigh for our CCC partnership....we appreciate you guys so much & our kids love you!! Soon after, COMANCHE landed in an awesome NMDOG Husky Foster home where he was welcomed as a member of the Family 💕 He got along so well with all of those coming & going at #TheHuskyHouse. He played, he napped, he lounged & cuddled. We discovered that COMANCHE is a #CouchWolf that is addicted to fireplaces & he loves to curl up on the couch in a little Husky fur ball. Its such a shame his previous people didnt take the time to enjoy him.
COMANCHE recently completed the NMDOG trial adoption period with his amazing new FoReVeR Family! He is adored, he is spoiled, he is doted on & loved beyond measure ❤️ He now has FIVE different fireplaces for his personal lounging pleasure & a built dog shower in his very own mud room! COMANCHES parents are home all of the time & he enjoys spending afternoons in the studio with his Mama. Every morning, his Dad takes him for a walk through the natural landscape of the neighborhood on his long-line & in the evenings, he goes on a short leash stroll for some special Mom time. This routine suits COMANCHE quite well because honestly....he a very low maintenance Husky & prefers naps over running marathons. He loves living the good life & being spoiled like the Velvet Prince he is 👑
