About

Garret Rogstad is the PT and Clinic Director of the Mount Horeb Location.

I am a long-standing member of the Capitol PT team. Having started as a staff therapist, I am now the clinic director at our Mount Horeb location. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University. I enjoy treating people across the age spectrum; young athlete to the older adult.

The majority of my work is treating orthopedic conditions, although I enjoy also treating neurological conditions including strokes and Parkinson’s and I am LSVT BIG Certified (specialized treatment for Parkinson’s disease). I use current technology, including 2-D running analysis, and other up-to-date techniques including Trigger Point Dry Needling and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.

Personally, my wife and I enjoy spending time with our two small children and our dog. I fill my limited free time with fishing and biking.

Bringing a life into the world is a beautiful and amazing feat. Our bodies go through intense changes during pregnancy and after birth. One of these changes is diastasis recti - separation of the abdominal wall, or your “six pack muscle,” which meet at the midline of your stomach. Healing this separation requires more than just “go to the gym” and “start doing crunches.” Returning to exercise without proper healing can do more harm than good. Capitol Physical Therapy will help you make informed decisions by providing the facts in our webinar titled: “Diastasis Recti AKA Mommy Tummy.” This webinar will provide information regarding healing diastasis recti for postpartum women of any age. Even if your last pregnancy was years ago, addressing Mommy Tummy can help reduce back and hip pain, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Join us to learn more about diastasis recti, try easy exercises to get you started with the healing process, and how physical therapy with one of our PTs can make a lasting difference in your life. Please follow the link provided to RSVP. For the Q&A session please feel free to submit your questions in advance to info@capitol.pt. We look forward to seeing you there - Thank you! Here is what you missed from last week's webinar. But don't worry, you can find this webinar on our YouTube channel soon!
Pain is an experience most of us go through at some point in our lives. Although it is okay and most often important to feel pain as a warning, having the fire alarm of pain go on continuously without a shut off switch can be distressing to say the least. With the added impact of life stressors (i.e. systemic racism, financial issues, job loss/change, ill family members) the cocktail can be very toxic. Come join the Capitol PT team for a brief session where we explain the scientific basis for persistent pain and use yoga principles as a modality to manage and potentially decrease it. Check out Subha’s tips and exercises for combatting knee pain! She shares helpful stretches for your hip flexors and side glute muscles, all of which help stabilize your body as you move. Working on strengthening these parts of the body will decrease stress on the knee, which often is the root cause of pain in the kneecap.
You may be experiencing upper back discomfort from incorrect posture or excess sitting in your home workspace. Check out one of Subha’s very favorite exercises to open up your upper back, using something most of us have lying around the house: tennis balls!
