Wellborn Road (FM 2154) will be CLOSED b/w Deacon & Harvey Mitchell (FM 2818) on Wednesday, October 21 from 3 a.m. until mid-to-late morning. All lanes of Wellborn will be closed. Please plan morning commutes accordingly!
Northbound Wellborn traffic will divert east onto Deacon Drive. Southbound Wellborn traffic will divert onto FM 2818. The 2818 ramp for southbound Wellborn will be closed. All eastbound Cain Road traffic will divert south onto Old Wellborn. Jones Crossing traffic will go north.
Two northbound Wellborn Road lanes will be reopened as soon as possible (the inside/left lane will remain closed for the duration of the closure). While these northbound lanes MIGHT be reopened in time for "rush hour" traffic, this cannot be guaranteed — please plan accordingly!
This planned closure will facilitate Crash Reconstruction activities as part of a continuing Intoxication Assault investigation.
On Sunday, October 18, at about 3 a.m. a car was southbound on Wellborn Road when it crashed into the back of a southbound SUV. The impact caused the SUV to roll over, ejecting an unrestrained passenger. The driver of the car was arrested for Intoxication Assault.
The SUV's driver was not injured. The ejected passenger suffered an incapacitating injury. The SUV's other passenger and the driver of the car suffered non-incapacitating injuries. All injured persons were transported by College Station Fire Department to local hospitals.
The car's driver was found to be intoxicated. A 31-year-old College Station resident was arrested for Intoxication Assault.
