Whether in celebration or sorrow, the gift of food usually suits the occasion. It can ease the burden of a friend in need or put a smile on a child’s face. I feel that food can bring back great memories and create a sense of comfort.
My passion for food developed as a child, sitting on a red swivel stool in the 60’s, in my grandparents coffee shop. My first memories of comfort food are with my Nana. Under the large glass case, was every kind of desert, freshly made with love by Nana. Different shapes, sizes & colors, made my choice a difficult one. As I re-create her recipes, I still remember the passion she had for her craft. Although my Nana taught me much, it was my mother and our times in her kitchen that shaped me into the person I am today. We laughed, cried and solved problems, all over the course of doing the evening dishes. She encouraged me to be my best, follow my dreams and showed me how to love and respect myself and others. God is first, life is precious and tomorrow is never promised. Her unconditional love were the guide stones in my life.
I know this may seem like 1960’s nostalgia, but I believe that those principals are timeless. I believe that saying “thank you” is powerful and that a smile can actually change someone’s day. Card & Cookie of Maine, is my way of saying that kindness never goes out of style and sometimes, a little treat, makes everything right. It is our desire at Card & Cookie, that when you open your box, a smile will come across your face, knowing that someone, thought of you today, that you are appreciated, celebrated or missed. We hope that you enjoy the taste and aroma of a handmade cookie, like those my Nana made. We are proud to assist you in making someone’s day a little brighter.
