Charles and Nellie Anness have been married for 71 years. They met at a high school baseball game and were married on Sept. 3, 1949. They had a daughter together and adopted two boys. On a recent trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the couple contracted COVID-19 while attending a church service. They were diagnosed and quarantined at home. With worsening symptoms, they were both admitted to Baptist Hospital for treatment where they were unable to see each other for 10 days. As they improved, they were accepted to Cardinal Hill for inpatient rehabilitation and reunited. They spent 16 days at Cardinal Hill working very hard to gain back their independence. On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the couple discharging home together. Their love and dedication to one another has been evident throughout their recovery here.
