Day 6 - If you use an extension cord...use it wisely. People tend to use extension cords for that extra set of lights or the dancing Santa in the corner. Extension cords should only be used as a temporary connection. Ensure your cords are not positioned under rugs. This can cause damage to the cord and could potentially cause a fire.
Day 5 - Make sure everyone knows how to get out of the house safely if a fire should ignite. Plan out and practice a fire escape plan with everyone in your home. Ensure that there's someone designated to help small children, older adults, or anyone else that may need assistance to leave the house quickly. Once outside, stay outside and call 911 from a cell phone or neighbors’ house.
