Carl A. Hess, MD, brings more than 30 years of pain management and anesthesiology experience to his private practice in Fullerton, California. As a board-certified interventional pain management specialist, Dr. Hess uses a wide range of procedures to relieve back pain, neck pain, neuropathy, and other chronic pain conditions without resorting to dangerous opioids. Some of the many cutting-edge techniques Dr. Hess uses include spinal injections, radiofrequency ablation, regenerative medicine, implantable devices, and more. He specializes in workers' compensation and personal injury cases.
Dr. Hess earned his medical degree and completed his advanced training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. For eight years, Dr. Hess directed the Pain Center at the University of California in Irvine. In that role, Dr. Hess instructed residents, fellows, and other physicians in all aspects of pain medicine. While at the university, he played an instrumental role in creating pain management procedures, techniques, and legislation still in place today.
As a former pain director, Dr. Hess believes that an integrated approach including pain relief, functional improvement, and psychological treatment, is often the most effective answer for chronic pain. This approach helps patients avoid the traditional opioid approach to pain management so they can live free from dependency.
At this time, Dr. Hess and his team are welcoming new patients to his private practice.
