Carlos Leon, MD, has been practicing gastroenterology since 2003, and joined the Digestive Disease Center in 2010. He started and built a successful practice on the west coast of Florida until 2007 prior to relocating to the West Palm Beach area. Since then, he has been practicing in Palm Beach County.
Born in Spain, raised in Puerto Rico, and trained in the U.S., Dr. Leon speaks fluent English and Spanish. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. This was followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Hahnemann University Hospital, part of the Drexel University School of Medicine, also in Philadelphia, PA.
Prior to coming to Florida, he served as associate professor of medicine and was the assistant director of medical education at Thomas Jefferson University Frankford Hospitals, in Bucks County, PA.
Dr. Leon is trained in diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP, and performs thousands of these procedures every year both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and belongs to the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
