🗿Tombstone Tuesday🗿 Let's talk about cremation. When people choose to be cremated or a family chooses to cremate their loved one, they often think that memorialization is unnecessary. Originally grave markers, or monuments/tombstones, were just a means to mark the grave. For many areas, a tombstone was a historical record. As time went on, so did record keeping and people’s idea of how a tombstone should look. This simple historical record was transformed into a monument, which in latin translates to “to remind”. People wanted a place to go to remember someone. Many people don't know that there are many ways in which you can combine the choice of cremation with memorialization. Whether it is a granite bench at a golf course, a sculpture in a park or a rustic boulder by a river or a lake, unique cremation memorials can fulfill your desire to remember. https://vimeo.com/59438085 VIMEO.COM Cremation Memorials

🗿Tombstone Tuesday🗿 Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston is West Virginia's largest cemetery. After Charleston's original municipal cemetery ran out of space in 1869, Spring Hill Cemetery began. The large complex overlooks the city, and is a popular place for both bird watchers and historians. Many key figures in the development of West Virginia and Charleston rest there. The cemetery showcases many different styles, types, and sizes of monuments and mausoleums. (Photos courtesy the Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park and Arboretum)
🗿Tombstone Tuesday🗿 On this day, in 1819, James Watt, passed away. Mr. Watt was a Scottish inventor, mechanical engineer, and chemist who improved on Thomas Newcomen's 1712 Newcomen steam engine with his Watt steam engine in 1776, which was fundamental to the changes brought by the Industrial Revolution in both his native Great Britain and the rest of the world. Watt was buried in the grounds of St. Mary's Church, Handsworth, in Birmingham. Later expansion of the church, over his grave, means that his tomb is now buried inside the church. Over his vault, the church placed a white marble statue, by Chantrey - a leading English sculptor of the time.
🗿Tombstone Tuesday🗿 Flowers are incorporated into ritual and sacrament all over the world and have been emblems of beauty, joy, purity, fertility, perfection and resurrection. Roses are one of the most versatile flowers, used in various settings from weddings to grave markers. Even those on tombstones can have several different meanings, depending on the number of roses, and whether they’re budding or in bloom. On its own, the rose signifies love, hope, and beauty. Two flowers joined together means a strong union, usually that of a married couple. A wreath represents beauty and virtue, while a rosebud symbolizes the death of a child. Partial blooms and broken blossoms signify someone whose life was cut short, typically as a teen or young adult.

Sears Monument Company September 30 at 7:15 AM · 🛑Please Read: Last week our install truck, with our crane, was totaled. We are thankful that our crew are OK and miraculously made it out without being hurt. We are currently on the hunt for a crane truck we are able to rent while we wait for our new crane truck to be available and delivered. This has unfortunately set us back on installs that require a crane to be used. This is very frustrating for us, and our customers, and we would like to thank our customers for their patience. In the meantime, if anyone has any information in regards to a crane truck we’re able to rent temporarily, while we eagerly await the arrival of our new one, please let us know. Thank you.
