Like many other businesses, Carolina Parakeet Tea & Gifts temporarily closed in March in response to Covid. While we have continued to serve our customers through our on-line order process and porch pick-up, we are excited to announce that we will re-open on Saturday, October 10. We will be observing the usual Covid precautions; limiting guests inside the store to two at a time and requesting that guests wear a mask. We look forward to seeing you again!

Having my breakfast tea on the deck, enjoying the blooming privet and making plans for when the tea shop fully reopens. I am thankful for the customers who continue to order on- line, but I miss having you come in for a quick chat. I will be waving and smiling at those who pick up tomorrow!! Love seeing you!

This is my travel tea set. You’ll notice the teapot top has a different color. Some years ago I broke the top, so I replaced it with the top that went to a pot that I also broke. Do you have a travel tea pot? When travel is again an option, where will you go?

Tea for #nationalpicnicday! Our rainy weather today is not ideal for an outdoor picnic, but don’t let that stop you. Carry your picnic basket from the kitchen to the living room. Spread your blanket on the floor; maybe light a fire in the fireplace and picnic indoors!

A holiday green tea is a returning flavor from last year’s holiday line up. Oh, Christmas Tree will have you singing the familiar Christmas carol as you sip by the tree (shown here with a cup from my personal collection). Sample this tea on Saturday. Open Thursday - Friday 10Am until 6PM and Saturday 10AM until 4PM.
New this year is our holiday tisane, Christmas Market! It is a delicious fruit tisane with adorable sugar stars! The Richard Brendon tea cup from the collection, Details from Blue Willow, inspired our shops blue and white Christmas decor. Drop by Carolina Parakeet Tea & Gifts this Saturday for a taste of Christmas Market and/or Midwinter Melody. Open Thursday - Friday from 10AM until 6PM and Saturday from 10AM until 4PM.
Another new holiday tea this year is Holiday Beene Wafer (cup from personal collection). Roasted sesame seed enriched cream-caramel pieces infuse this green tea that has been flavored with hazelnut brittle, almonds and walnuts. Uniquely delicious. Samples on Saturday! Open Thursday-Friday 10AM until 6PM and Saturday 10AM until 4PM.
Visions of Gingerbread is our new flavored holiday black tea (in another cup from my personal collection). The shops blue and white decor this year is meant to reflect a Tea in a winter garden on Christmas Eve. The gnome is part of our decor. On Saturday we will offer up samples of Oh, Christmas Tree and Visions of Gingerbread. Come for a taste and visit our Christmas gnome.
Open Thursday - Friday 10Am until 6PM and Saturday 10AM until 4PM.

Peppermint tea is great anytime of the year, but seems especially appropriate at Christmas (shown here in another of my personal collection cups)! Switch it up a bit; I don’t think Santa would be at all disappointed to have a hot cup of peppermint tea and a little chocolate waiting for him instead of cookies and milk! Samples of Holiday Beene Wafer and Peppermint available on Saturday. Open Thursday - Friday 10AM until 6PM and Saturday 10AM until 4PM.
Merry Christmas to all!

It’s January; the celebration month for tea lovers across the nation! Carolina Parakeet will be celebrating National Hot Tea Month by adding new teas to our line of Teabird teas and offering an introductory discount of 20% off the regular price all month long! New teas coming in January include Blooming Teas, Lung Ching (Dragon Well green), Matcha and Silver Needles (white tea). Happy National Hot Tea Month.
Silver Needle, a white tea, is the latest to be added to our line. The dry leaves display a striking variation of greens and the prepared tea has a delicately green tinted hue. The striking blue iron teapot, one of many of the options available in our shop, complements the blue willow Chinese teacup from my personal collection. Happy National Hot Tea Month!
Valentine’s Day is 9 days away! Flowering tea makes a perfect gift!
Hibiscus tea, an herbal infusion made from the sepals of the roselle Hibiscus sabdariffa plant is our February tea of the month. A red colored tisane made from flowers seemed the perfect fit for this Valentine month!
Valentine’s Day is 5 days away! Need a great gift idea for your tea enthusiast? This wooden gift box of teas tops our list!
This precious teacup (my collection) features sweet little violets; the birth month flower for February. At least, I think that is what they are. The tea in the cup is, again, our Tung Ting Oolong. Included here are some of the rolled tea leaves that have not, yet, been steeped. So pretty!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Posting a little pre-Valentine’s Day vision today. A white Chinese-style teacup and our Tung Ting Oolong. Throughout the year, we spend a lot of time sampling potential additions to our line. Between sampling, we get to rediscover old favorites. This is one I often return to.
Richard Brendon designed his Reflect line to complement the “lonely” (no matching teacup) saucers he found in antique stores in London. I like pairing them with the saucers from sets I already have to create a bit of variety on my tea table. We’ve prepared our Kenya tea British-style, with milk and sugar. Kenya tea, Reflect teapot and cups are all available in our shop (saucer not available).
The natural hint of sweetness in this white tea will tantalize your taste buds! And, oh, the beauty of the leaves!
In honor of February’s birth month flower, violets; we introduce our new Violet French Macaron tea. Today only, we are offering a new tea introductory discount of 20% off the regular price!
March is National Irish Heritage Month. In recognition, we are giving a 15% discount on all our green teas throughout March!
March tea of the Month, Pistachio Pu’erh. Pu’erh is a microbial fermented tea. The fermentation process can be done by the traditional (and more time consuming) method or the modern (quicker) method. It can be sold compressed or loose. This vintage celadon mug with lid, available in our shop and our website seems a particularly appropriate vessel for this tea.
Another Chui Leong tea cup. The tea is Japanese Sencha, notice the flat needle-like leaves.
I paired the bright yellow daffodils (March birth month flower) with this bright yellow Japanese-style teacup by Hawaiian potter and tea farmer Chiu Leong. In 2018, we took a trip to Hawaii to establish connections with Hawaiian tea farmers. We had the privilege of harvesting and producing a small batch of tea for our personal tea collection. Teas from the farmers we visited are available for purchase. I dare say we are the only distributer of Hawaii grown tea or of Chiu’s tea cups in SC.
Pinehead Gunpowder, so named by the English because of its resemblance to gunpowder, is a tightly rolled green tea. The Finum double wall tea glass is mine; purchased when we sold them in our shop. We are out of them now. Do you think we should restock?
Happy St. Patricks Day
Meet Earl Green, a green tea flavored with bergamot. Blasta!
