This week’s Attorney Spotlight is on Richard Green, Partner and Chair of CDF’s Immigration Practice Group. Rick’s practice focuses on helping employers obtain immigration status and employment authorization in the U.S. for their employees and their family members. He is a Certified Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization. He puts his 20 years of experience into play when assisting employers so they get what they need, when they need it. Biggest COVID-19 Challenge: Rick has found that the biggest immigration-related challenges employers have faced due to COVID-19 have been the shutdown of the consulates USCIS offices and borders, which made the issuance of visas and other immigration benefits practically impossible, the additional restrictions imposed on eligibility for immigration benefits and the proliferation of working from home outside the IT sector has caused employers to reevaluate the value of working visas for their employees. When Not Practicing Law: He can be found flying a Cessna between John Wayne Airport and Montgomery Field in San Diego. CDF attorneys Joel Van Parys and Dalia Khatib recently authored the article "How to Avoid Timekeeping Pitfalls" for HR.com. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues throughout California, employees and employers have learned to adapt to working remotely. Some employers have decided to allow employees to work remotely until at least mid-2021 to ensure a safer environment upon return. But remote work creates challenging wage and hour issues, especially related to timekeeping. Accurate timekeeping is a company’s first line of defense against all too common PAGA and class action lawsuits, so it is important for employers to be vigilant on this issue. In this article, Joel and Dahlia address the issues that employers should pay special attention to in order to avoid potential lawsuits. https://www.cdflaborlaw.com/_images/content/How_To_Avoid_Timekeeping_Pitfalls_-_HR.com_.pdf #covid #remotework #hr #humanresources #employmentlaw #wageandhour #timekeeping #cdflaborlaw
