Here’s what taxpayers can do now to Get Ready to file taxes in 2021 | Internal Revenue Service
The best way to speed up your refund is to file electronically and use direct deposit. If you owe money, the fastest way to pay is also through direct withdraw.
If you received the maximum amount for the economic impact stimulus payment, you do not need to include this information on your return. The advance payments received separately are not taxable and do not reduce your refund amount. The individual who did not receive their stimulus payment or only partial payment might be eligible to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2020 return. Be sure to include this information to your preparer.
The Filing season for individual returns begins on February 12th.
The first week of March tax refunds will begin reaching those who file electronically with direct deposit as long as there are no issues with their tax returns.
April 15th is the deadline to file your 2020 return or to file an extension.
October 15th is the deadline to file your return if you requested an extension.
