*COVID-19 Information & Changes to our Protocols* Effective March 17 The health and well-being of your pet is our top priority. As news of the corona virus (COVID-19) in our community continues to develop, we are monitoring the situation closely. While the CDC and other health authorities have indicated that dogs, cats, and other domestic animals are not considered at risk for contracting COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of humans within our facilities – notably our clients and staff. At this time, our hospital remains open and is operating under regular business hours. We are taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of our clients and staff. If you are feeling ill or experiencing flu-like symptoms and have an upcoming appointment, we kindly ask that you call us to reschedule. If your pet has a medical emergency while you are ill, please arrange for a trusted friend or healthy family member to transport your pet to our hospital. Our office is now implementing car check-in protocol. We ask that you call the front desk at 919-469-0947 upon arrival to let our staff know you are here for your appointment. A care professional will come to the parking lot to bring your pet into the building for further evaluation. You will remain in your vehicle at this time. After the medical team evaluates your animal, you will receive a phone call to discuss recommendations and a plan to treat. Verbal consent for treatment and details surrounding financial estimates will be authorized via this phone call. Shortly thereafter, you will receive a phone call from a customer service representative to obtain payment via one of our payment methods. If you need to order a prescription refill or purchase pet supplies, please consider visiting our online store: caryvethospital.vetsfirstchoice.com. You can do this by either signing on and requesting a prescription on your own, or you can give us a call and we will submit a prescription for you. If you need to pick up medication for your pet in person, we will ask you provide us with a contact phone number for us to reach you at when your prescription is ready. At this time, please be prepared with a credit card to give over the phone for payment. We will also ask for you to call when you arrive in the parking lot and a staff member will bring the medication out to you. Inside the hospital, we will be following strict protocols including extensive hand-washing between each pet and client interaction, extended disinfecting protocols to include all surfaces typically touched by clients or staff, and limiting entry into the hospital. Fortunately, the veterinary field is already very familiar with disinfecting protocols concerning viruses that can be spread. Our current products should be effective against disinfecting surfaces of COVID-19. We believe that our best strategy in combating this issue involves a strong united front, in compliance with the recommendation of medical and public health experts. This is for the safety of our staff and our clients. We will get through this together and we remain committed to being able to safely and effectively care for your pet. Sincerely, The Doctors & Staff at Cary Veterinary Hospital
