There are all kinds of coatings failures. Sometimes it's blatant disregard for coating specs. Sometimes it's just human error. A properly designed cathodic protection system will help extend the life of the pipe or tank and save costly excavations to repair failed coatings.
I am happy to say that in 10 years of coating, we have only had one failure. That failure happened because of the wrong coating being specified for the environment. Our highly trained and diligent professionals get the job done right the first time.

It is important to follow all manufacturer's specifications regarding their coating, including storage. You need to be ready to defend your actions or face delays such as these.
Also the point of degradation of coating during storage is an excellent reason to consider cathodic protection in conjunction with coatings.
