For all you cat owners, worth reading. Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital October 27 at 8:29 PM · Hairballs! 😾 Hairballs are common but they are not normal. Believe it or not, there are some cats who never have them! And yes they still groom themselves. All the hair just passes through and comes out the other end, and that is what should be happening. Hairballs occassionally can be ‘just a hairball,’ especially in long haired cats that do not get brushed regularly. Most cats might have a hairball two to three times per YEAR. Any frequency greater than that could be a sign of a medical issue. A note on the vernacular: cats vomit hairballs, they do not cough them up. Hairballs are generally found in the stomach or small intestine, where they have been known to cause obstructions. (Coughing is also not normal and should be investigated promptly.) Don’t ignore hairballs! (I mean, you can’t ignore that sound, can you?🤮) If your cat is having hairballs monthly, weekly or even daily‼️ call us and make an appointment. 562.439.4228

During these difficult times we greatly appreciate our clients taking the time to give us positive reviews on Google and Yelp. Thank you! "I have been to every veterinarian in Long Beach and finally found Cats & Dogs Animal Hospital with whom I have been with for over four years now. They are wonderful! Hudson and Busters (my boys) have been seeing Dr. Michelle. Buster is really skittish around people he doesn't know and he is totally comfortable around her. Their staff is super friendly and helpful - very thorough as well! One day a gal came in with her really frightened dog and they knew right away that if they wrapped her dog with a towel like a baby, the dog would calm down which is exactly what happened! If you need a vet who knows what they are doing and really cares, this is the place to go!"
We hope you have a paw-sitively happy howl-iday!
You may be tempted to pass your pet some food under the table, but remember, foods that you enjoy can be toxic for your furry friend.
