RAIN!! IT IS COMING!
At least to areas west of the Cascades for sure. Just have to see what happens east of the Cascades.
There is a chance for thunderstorms in some areas. Some of those could even get severe.

Slater Fire came across into Oregon sometime last night and began to present itself as a problem as it became more visible along highway 199 and in the Takilma area. The fire jumped Highway 199 down by the bug station in California. Today we put structure protection in place for Both Highway199 and Takilma Road.
The plan is to keep patroling critical areas and have structure protection in place. ODF is working on putting dozer lines to help prevent the fire from advancing. Cave Junction will remain as Level 2 - Which means get set. All Level 3 evacuations will remain in place unless otherwise noted. We will provide another status update in the morning and one in the afternoon tomorrow.
We are working with Josephine County Emergency Management and the Sheriffs office to get information out to the public going forward.

Update- Tripcheck is showing no issues on I5 between Grants Pass and Rogue River at this time.
Multiple crashes on I5 southbound between Grants Pass and Rogue River. Traffic is delayed, please use an alternate route. In addition the rain is creating a slick surface so please slow down and give plenty of room between vehicles.

Traffic Tuesday: School Zones
-Special Edition & Enforcement Notice-
ALL SCHOOL ZONES ARE CURRENTLY IN FULL EFFECT!
Did you know that Grants Pass has 10 different school zones! Even though some children are distance learning due to Covid-19, there are still children learning on every school campus in the city throughout the entire day. There are currently over 250 students spread across all the schools and that number is anticipated to increase significantly in December. All school zones are in full effect and have been for some time.
Please help us spread the word by sharing or informing friends and family. All school zones will be receiving increased patrol for speed enforcement. Most school zones in GP are posted at 20 mph Monday-Friday from 7am-5pm. There are a few that have flashing lights during specific times. Lastly, school zones can mean an increased fine for violators.

UPDATE - Thanks to assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and their marine boat and Caveman Towing we were able to get the truck removed from the Rogue River.
CAUTION - A truck rolled into the Rogue River and is currently 100 yards above the Schroeder Park Boat Ramp. Nobody was injured in this incident. If you have plans to be on the Rogue River today please be aware of this hazard. We are working on getting the truck removed today. We will post an update once the truck has been removed.

The SMART play is to get into whatever lodging you can find if you are north of Ashland. You are not going to want to drive in the conditions in Siskiyou County.
