“What a difference a year makes! On 11/21/2019 that little embryo started its journey to become our sweet little Emmaline. Here she is on 11/21/2020 thanks to @ccrmfertility, the amazing Dr. Surrey, and Nurse Ellie (who, with kindness, answered probably over a million questions from me over the years 😋)! When we “graduated” from CCRM after our 10 week ultrasound I cried, I felt at home there and secure, it would feel weird not to go there regularly. I am choked up with tears of joy while writing this post. 2020 was a tough year for all of humanity. I lost several friends and colleagues to COVID-19. On Christmas Eve (coincidentally on the 80th birthday of Dr. Anthony Fauci), I received the best Christmas gift for 2020 - COVID-19 Moderna vaccine. Three days later, I am still doing well. It was a long journey getting us to these sweet bundles of joy, one we will never take for granted. We are feeling extra blessed with a very healthy pregnancy, delivery and birth of these two babies who have made our lives feel whole. Does Covid vaccine cause infertility?
To date, there are no studies indicating that Covid vaccine causes infertility. If you are not pregnant, you should highly consider getting the vaccine. If you are pregnant, you should weigh the risks and benefits of getting Covid disease during pregnancy vs obtaining the vaccine. For most pregnant women, getting the vaccine maybe the safer option at this time.

It wasn’t easy, though. In the middle of a raging pandemic, we went through a whole lot of fertility treatments to get here:
– 3 failed rounds of IUI (January-March)
– 3 surgeries to remove a massive 4cm fibroid (July-September)
– 1 successful (thank god) round of IVF (July retrieval and an October transfer)

Really, though, during the middle of it, it didn’t seem like a lot. It kinda felt like training for an ironman – one workout at a time (in this case, though, one injection into my abs or ass at a time). But when I type it out and look at it collectively? Whoa 😳

Fertility is a fickle thing, at almost any age. You never know how your body will respond to fertility treatment, and having it work – having a healthy baby – isn’t guaranteed. So I’m incredibly grateful that at 40 my body cooperated (really well!) and that we’re halfway through! Thank you to my amazing doctor at @ccrmfertility Minneapolis – she is why we’re here.
