I am incredibly thankful that God had a plan for us. We started the business out of necessity. The company I was working with, was running out of work and I would be laid off, so we took a small loan, I had a opportunity and the first project worked out. It was 1987 at underground Atlanta. We were so broke, if it had not worked out, I have no idea what would have happened to us.. Karla went back to nursing school to generate some income to help us and just in case this entrepreneur thing didn’t workout, and became a registered nurse. It was a mad house for 3 to 4 years, two little kids, Karla attending nursing school and my inexperience as business man. Some days Karla had to be at school early and I was in charge of the kids. Me braiding my daughter’s hair or me using a curling iron, is the reason she keeps her hair short today. It was a tough time but we never gave up. This is another reason my faith in a higher being is so strong. Tomorrow more on the journey and how I survived a complete nervous breakdown in 1992 and couldn’t tell a soul but Karla. We all have a story. Fight through the fear!
I have been so blessed to see and live in the power of love. Love is powerful. These pictures are few of my reminders of the power of love in my life. Thanking God this morning for allowing so much love in my life and reminding me of the power of love. Don't be afraid to give love and allow love into your life. Let love flow today!

The journey continues. For 55 years I have tried to to tell myself what happened to me as child, didn't impact me as much as it did. Trying to downplay a trauma doesn't make it better. I finally know I am not weak for saying to myself, that having my innocence stolen was very traumatic and really impacted my life. On my journey to release and manage anxiety differently by allowing myself to think differently about the past. The future is bright, even with all of the uncertainty. Thankful! Enjoy the video.

Got out today and got a hike in with some hill work. Getting a trauma therapist has been great. In 6 weeks worth of work has been so helpful. I am so happy to finally start facing what actually happened to me as a child and get through it. My goal personally is to one day start a adult advocacy center that adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse can go in private to get on the road of healing. Until now I never faced what actually took place and it created years of panic and anxiety trying to keep the events buried. I share to help those still suffering in silence and feeling all alone. My dad was so proud seeing his 1st born grandchild (my son Charles) graduate from Morehouse College in the summer of 2007. My son graduated in King Chapel like I did in 1978 from Morehouse. (Looking at pictures and smiling)

I use to be afraid of failing for all the wrong reasons. I thought people would laugh at me if I failed, people would say I knew he couldn't make it. I quickly realized only two things can happen if you try, either you make it or you don't. But at least you tried! In other words don't be afraid to fail, and keep trying to you succeed! (Picture with my family on our very 1st project as entrepreneurs. I was scared and inexperienced. Karla was supportive and trying to get into nursing school to become an RN, so we could have a steady income. We were almost 32 years old.)
I enjoy life everyday, even though at times I deal with anxiety, because of the trauma of being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I refuse to let that trauma take my love for life and people. Through my recent trauma therapy I am finding something that adds to my joy. I am finding peace from my childhood trauma. We really can turn trauma into triumph. Find your path, it is out there for you! I am so excited about this phase of my life. Have an incredible week. Don't let your past stop you from having an awesome life.
