A new report released today by SIR demonstrates that there is a lack of awareness of uterine fibroids and their treatment options among U.S. women. Alarmingly, most women say they have never heard of UFE, including those who have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Healthcare professionals should ensure women are being informed of all of their treatment options. sirweb.org/fibroidfix

“Waking in the night with an urgent need to urinate significantly disrupts the lives of men by preventing them from having a full night’s sleep,” said SIR member Dr. Sandeep Bagla. “For many men, the cause of their discomfort is an enlarged prostate and these results show men can live a more normal life once they have undergone prostatic artery embolization to address this condition. The procedure has the added benefit of being less invasive and is performed on an outpatient basis, allowing many men to go home the same day.” http://bit.ly/23FT8Lv
