Throughout Oregon and Washington, wildfires have displaced so many families, including residents from other senior living communities. Our community has been fortunate and blessed to not have had to evacuate, and for this we are deeply thankful.
We need to come together during this time and give the love and support we have to those in need. This is why all Oregon and Washington Bonaventure Senior Living communities, including ours, will have boxes available outside their front doors for people to donate to those affected by the fires.
We're looking for donations of canned food, water, clothing, toiletries, baby formula, diapers, wipes, and more. It would mean the world to those that need it and it would mean the world to us. Our community is strong because we come together for the greater good.

Here are just a few of the creative decorations our residents came up with for our "Halloween Door Decorating Contest". Our winner was Joy with her adorable homemade "knitting skeleton", made from recycled milk jugs. Great job, Joy! We really do have some creative people here!

One of our residents' favorite activities right now is our "Sip & Paint" painting class. To get themselves into the mood for Fall, they painted these beautiful "Autumn Trees" masterpieces!

Who's feeling crafty? One of our ladies, Joy, taught a group of residents to make these adorable pine cone baby owl decorations. It was so popular, we were asked to do the class again!

We began our Bonaventure Virtual Cruise week in Copenhagen, Denmark with delicious Danish Smorrebrod (open face sandwiches). Residents absolutely loved these little tastes of Denmark made by our Activity Director, Angie. We also learned quite a bit about LEGOS! Did you know that Billund, Denmark is the home of LEGOS?

Boy did we have fun "exploring" Norway this week! We have several residents who have been to Norway and shared their stories and souvenirs; to include Joy's beautiful handmade Norwegian sweaters and jewelry that she shared with us all week and Tom's Scandinavian cruise slideshow! We also have Dorothy, who's husband was Norwegian and she shared a photo of her Norwegian wedding cake that someone made for their wedding. We have seen some absolutely gorgeous and otherworldly scenery and enjoyed some delicious treats from Norway including strawberry Kringle and these melt-in-your-mouth Norwegian Cinnamon Thumb Cookies. Also, the residents made their own Viking Helmets in Artistic Creations to wear to our Viking Happy Hour on Friday. Next destination... Denmark!

We rounded out our Bonaventure Virtual Cruise in the Netherlands after enjoying Stroopwafle Ice Cream Sandwiches, delicious Dutch Oat Bread, coffee smoothies, tulip painting, and making Dutch Hex (blessings) pins. This week we are exploring Norway!

Our J.R.R Tolkien week ended with an exciting dragon hunt that the residents really got into! 16 dragons were hiding all over Cedar Ridge. The residents were instructed to "slay" the dragons and take their "eyes", then bring the dragon "eyes" to our "Drink Like The Dwarves" Happy Hour. For every dragon eye collected the residents received a bag of "gold" from the dragon's treasure!
