Dr. Roland Pilat was born and raised in central Europe, where he finished his studies at the School of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM title in 1979. After one year in the military, he joined the faculty at the School of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice, Slovakia as an Assistant Professor of Internal Diseases and stayed until 1983, when he left academia to pursue his passion to practice veterinary medicine in the field.
After moving to the USA, he worked at the New York Medical College in New York, and later finished residency at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, LA. In 1999 he became an owner of Cenla Animal Clinic in Pinevile LA, where he has a predominantly small animal practice.
Dr. Pilat's passions include motorcycles, cars, traveling, and good Louisiana food. He and his wife, Renata, a pediatrician in Pineville, have been happily married since 1977. Together, they have a son, Martin, a radiologist in Dallas, TX, who is married to Addie, an attorney. They also have a daughter, Barb, who is a lawyer in Baton Rouge. Benjamin and Sofia, their beautiful grandchildren, are their pride and joy, who they enjoy spoiling relentlessly.
