PSA to all ferret owners: DON’T DO THIS. 🤢😖🤯🤣
(For non-ferret owners, or unaware ferret owners, male ferrets have a prepuce that is often mistaken for a belly button.)

I personally believe they’re some of the most vital skills you can teach any animal. Fahrenheit and I have slowly been working on this little routine ready for when he gets his microchip. Ensuring the quick procedure can be made as stressless as possible for him is really important to me, so being as prepared as possible going into it will really make so much difference🙌
Do you work on cooperative care behaviours with your animals?🤔
As always, Fahrenheit has only ever been trained using Force and Fear Free methods, and a clicker!

Being able to recognize some of the most common signs of pain in your pet early on can help improve their quality of life.
If you believe your exotic pet might be experiencing pain please make an appointment with their veterinarian.
Great video! It is often very straightforward and fast to train animals to take medications from a syringe. A vital skill for almost all pets!

Happy Halloweekend! Please note that CBEAM only treats werewolves in their transformed state, so scheduling must be based around the lunar cycle. Thankfully, due to our 24/7 care model and evening appointment availability, we can be pretty accommodating to the unique needs of these cryptids.

Even werewolves need regular veterinary care! Dr. Barton made sure this guy got a complete check-up, updated his Rabies vaccination, and discussed with him the importance of dental care, and prevention of heartworm, fleas, and ticks because Rabies virus, Lyme Disease, and worms that live in your heart is some really scary stuff! Happy Halloweekend everyone! 🎃
While our doctors don’t treat domestic cats, servals are exotic enough for us! This is Tahfari. He came to our hospital after eating something he was not supposed to. He had an emergency overnight surgery with Dr. Hyde, Dr. Hess, and Dr. Lezama. After spending two days in hospital, he went home and has been doing well. Isn’t he beautiful?

This video shows Ikan after he had woken up from his surgery. As you can see, he recovered nicely!
(Check out our earlier post for the full story and additional pictures of Ikan’s procedure, but the short summary is: he had a mass on his tail. Dr. McLaughlin biopsied it today. He is doing well so far, and test results are pending.)
This is a close up video of Ikan receiving anesthesia during his operation. The MS222-containing water is being flushed over his gills with an IV catheter. The lesion has been partially debulked already, and Dr. McLaughlin is in the middle of processing the tissue samples.

Please note that our computer systems will be down from 9pm Wednesday, December 2nd, until 9am Thursday, December 3rd, while we are installing some much-needed technology updates. This well-done video covers a lot of the challenges the CBEAM Team and our patients have been facing this year (it would probably take an hour-long documentary to list all of them - because, 2020 😂😓). One additional issue not mentioned specifically in the video was because we have had SO MANY additional phone calls coming through, we were routinely maxing out our phone line capacity. Our staff has been having to call clients on their personal cell phones at times to try to keep the clinic phone lines open for other clients to use. Thankfully, our recent technology upgrade included 16 new phone lines (a huge boost from the original 6!). We are growing and evolving as a practice while we figure out better ways to serve our clients during these unprecedented times. Thank you for your patience with us while we continue to adjust to the new reality of a global pandemic... and let’s all keep our fingers crossed for a better 2021!
