The past few months have been extremely challenging for all of us. We have been confronted with a worldwide pandemic of unprecedented proportions that has placed demands on the healthcare delivery system and the economy never before experienced in our lifetimes. As you may have heard, CenterPoint Massage & Shiatsu School & Clinic is in the process of closing down our St Louis Park location. This is due to the effects of Covid-19 on the operations of running a very “Hands-On” school.
CenterPoint is moving out of our current location June 30th. In order to do so, we are liquidating (selling) almost everything we have. The funds from the sale will help pay employees and maintain a presence to help current students finish their program with Northwestern Health Sciences University.
On-Line Auction: The liquidation is managed through an on-line auction. We are selling almost everything: Massage & Shiatsu tables and equipment; Massage & Shiatsu posters and wall hangings; Classroom desks, chairs, podiums, projectors, screens, whiteboards, smart-boards, shelving, etc.; Office equipment, file cabinets, display holders; and much more.

The auction company could not sell the books and magazines in our library, so we are going to sell them by appointment, Thursday, June 4 - Tuesday, June 16. Only two people will be allowed in the library at a time and masks must be worn.

Just a quick note to let you know that we are thinking of you all. We hope you are well and coping as well as can be expected with the challenging and rapidly changing terrain.
We know that you, our graduates and students, are experiencing difficult times. The service industries like therapeutic bodywork are required to be “hands-off”. The irony is that everyone is experiencing a great amount of stress and need us. And, we are unavailable.
Now is a time to stay connected with our community. Let us continue to share our selves, our knowledge, how we are managing, including practical things like how to apply for unemployment insurance. This, too, will pass.
In Chinese Medicine, the energy of the winter season is to contract, go inside, stay quiet. This is what we are required to do right now, and yet we have entered the spring season. Spring is for new beginnings, emerging from the dark, moving upwards and outwards, and growth. Perhaps, if we change our perspective and see that we are in a prolonged winter phase, we can trust that spring will eventually emerge. We will grow and expand, reach up and out, and then move into the joy of summer!
All of us at CenterPoint are working hard to finish that last 5 weeks of course material via electronically remote classes for our current students. We have postponed our student clinic, workshops and electives. We are patiently waiting for guidance from our state leaders.
Please remember, in the midst of so much uncertainty, one thing we uniquely have is one another. It is more important than ever to stay connected. The CenterPoint community is embracing the montage of “it takes a village”.
Let us all practice patience, extend support, and offer grace to one another as we continue working on our common goal of being providers of therapeutic bodywork services that bring hope, healing and health to the world.
