It's going to be a scorcher of a week Antelope Valley! With summer in full swing, Lancaster Sheriff's Station takes this time to remind you to never leave your 4 legged family member in the car!
Temps will reach the high 90's during this week and the low 100's into the weekend. While we all love taking our pets with us, leaving your pet inside a hot car while you run errands is never ok. Temperatures inside a vehicle can rise to 30-45 degrees hotter than the outside temperature in just a short time.
Also, with the sun beating on sidewalks all day long, keep in mind that the asphalt may be hot for little paws. Like Doc, pets would rather be on grass than a hot sidewalk. Take a moment to place your hand down on the sidewalk. If it's too hot for your bare hand, it's too hot for little paws.
Keep your pets cool, hydrated and make sure they have a shady place to rest. And keep your furry loved ones safe by never, ever leaving them in a hot car.
