Meet The Team Thursdays!! Every Thursday we are going to be introducing a member of our staff so you can get to know us a little more! The staff has been asked to answer 5 questions about themselves and we are going to share their answers! This Thursday our focus will be directed towards Jordan Francis! Jordan started working with Chambers Prairie Animal Hospital in September of 2019 and has been a wonderful addition to the crew. 1. What is your role at Chambers Prairie Animal Hospital? --"Floater. A little bit of everything, from assisting with anesthetized patients to helping out with a Doctors/Technicians appointment and maybe even cleaning up after a few of our patients from time to time. 😉" 2. What is the best part of your day? --"The best part of my day is meeting all the cute pets that come in. I also enjoy collecting lab samples, running diagnostics and taking radiographs!" 3. How many pets do you have? What's he/she like? --"I have three pets! Love Bug is my cat, she is a total dog-like cat. She is very active and playful but very attention-seeking. 🙂 Dib is one of my ferrets, he is very active for a ferret and loves giving the best kisses! Gaz is my other ferret, he is my tiny shadow and gives the best snuggles!" 4. If you could have one super-power, what would it be and why? --"If I could have one super-power it would be time dilation. That way, I would be able to stretch out days enough to get more done and get more healthy sleep. Instead of feeling stuck in a constant state of catch-up." 5. What does a perfect weekend look like to you? --"A long bike ride or a hike in the woods and plenty of time spent with my critters!"
"Dr. Dobyns and one of the Vet Techs, I think her name is Abby maybe?, have been incredibly supportive and wonderful throughout my dogs' journey with kidney disease. When she first got sick, they dealt kindly with my excessive questions. They always treated Susie wonderfully and remembered her when she came in (even though she was a dramatic nut.) When it came time for Susie to pass on, they were incredibly compassionate.." says Franny on Google BIRDEYE.COM Chambers Prairie Animal Hospital | Olympia, WA

~BREED OF THE DAY~ 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐲𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 Did you know that Italian Greyhounds are prone to dental disease. Tooth brushing and supplementation with hard, mildly abrasive foods and chew toys promotes dental health. A true Greyhound in miniature form, the elegant Italian Greyhound is an alert, playful, and highly affectionate toy companion. IGs make decorative couch dogs, but at heart they are flash-and-dash coursing hounds with an instinct for pursuit.
~BREED OF THE DAY~ 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙤𝙠 The Chinook was developed in the United States as a sled dog whose function was drafting and sled dog racing. Bred to combine the power of freighting breeds with the speed of the lighter racing sled dogs. The pride of Wonalancet, New Hampshire, the Chinook is a rugged working dog and devoted family pet known for intelligence, patience, and eagerness to please. Once on the verge of extinction, the Chinook is among the scarcest AKC breeds.

~BREED OF THE DAY~ 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 The Golden Retriever, an exuberant Scottish gundog of great beauty, stands among America’s most popular dog breeds. They are serious workers at hunting and field work, as guides for the blind, and in search-and-rescue, enjoy obedience and other competitive events, and have an endearing love of life when not at work. Goldens are outgoing, trustworthy, and eager-to-please family dogs, and relatively easy to train. They take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood. These energetic, powerful gundogs enjoy outdoor play. For a breed built to retrieve waterfowl for hours on end, swimming and fetching are natural pastimes.

~Breed Of The Day~ 𝑩𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒏 The Beauceron is a dog of great power but of great sensitivity too. It’s an upright breed who works wide of the herd or flock, unlike such herders as the Australian Shepherd, who works up close to his charges. The Beauceron approach to herding is quiet and calm; they can work into sheep without spooking them. This versatile and whip-smart breed also has a history of military and police K-9 work. They were especially useful in the trench warfare of World War I. Did you know? They are extensively used on farms in France to herd sheep and in some cases cattle. Of the many sheep herding dogs in France, the Beauceron is the preferred choice.

~Breed Of The Day~ 𝕊𝕒𝕝𝕦𝕜𝕚 The Saluki is among the oldest dog breeds. Experts tell us Salukis might go as far back as 7000 b.c. Like other sighthounds, Salukis were special favorites of kings: Egyptian pharaohs, Alexander the Great, and on through history. The breed today is remarkably similar in shape and personality to its ancient ancestors. We can still marvel at the same sleek lines and natural dignity that thrilled royal families of the Middle East, Egypt, and Asia since before the Pyramids were built. Did you know? The Saluki, the royal dog of Egypt, is perhaps the oldest known breed of domesticated dog, identified by some historians as a "distinct breed and type as long ago as 329 BC when Alexander the Great invaded India."

~ Breed of the Day ~ 𝕄𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕒𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕖 𝔹𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕋𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕣 The Bull Terrier was created as a fighting dog in the 1830s by crossing Bulldogs with now-extinct English terriers. Soon after, breeders began work on a miniaturized version to use as above-ground ratters. The result of a very long trial-and- period was the Mini. Today’s Minis are companion dogs, but the ratter instinct and a protective streak remain as souvenirs of the breed’s formative years. These dogs have a high activity level, they are smart and creative, and indeed they are independent thinkers. In most every way the Miniature Bull Terrier is a Bull Terrier, only smaller. These upbeat, mischievous dogs come equipped with terrier fire and fearlessness. If ever a dog could claim the title “Clown Prince of Dogdom,” it’s the Mini.
