Champ L. Baker, Jr. received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University. He completed his residency through Letterman Army Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children in addition to a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Foundation.
Dr. Baker is Chairman of the Board of the Hughston Foundation and served as president of the Hughston Clinic from 1994 until 2000.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Baker has been active in many professional societies. He has also served as the team physician for numerous local and regional athletic teams.
He is Past President of the AOSSM as well as a recipient of two prestigious awards in orthopaedics, the Robert E. Leach, M.D., “Mr. Sports Medicine” Award in 2010 and the AOSSM Hall of Fame in 2012.
