Ruth Bader Ginsburg becomes first woman to lie in state: 8 other strides she made for women
"Ginsburg joins Rosa Parks, John Lewis, and Abraham Lincoln as those who were laid in state or laid in honor at the Capitol.
Lying in state (for government official and military officers) and lying in honor (for private citizens) is when someone's remains are placed in the US Capitol in Washington, DC, to allow the public to pay their respects. This tribute is considered one of the highest honors."

If women were paid minimum wage for the unpaid household and child care work they do in the U.S., they would collectively earn $1.5 trillion per year. It’s one aspect of the economic inequality women face compared to men. Economic disparities are likely to get worse as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as women have experienced a greater share of job loss over the last year. During a Wednesday congressional hearing, Ai-jen Poo, the director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, noted the historic lows in workforce participation among women. “We’ve got to address this if we’re to recover from this pandemic,” she told the House Oversight Committee during a hearing on #EqualPayDay. Sheriff Mike Chitwood stopped by Waste Pro in Daytona Beach today to thank employee Allen Ramos, who saw a car hit the sheriff while he was biking Thursday.
Sheriff Chitwood expressed his appreciation to Ramos for being first on scene to assist him and call for help. "I was so glad, ... looking up yesterday. You're laying there, you can't move, you can't get your phone. Cars are going by you. I thought, 'somebody's gotta stop.' And then I looked up and you were there."
However you are celebrating, have a happy and safe St. Patrick's Day - from our family to your family!
