Charles F. Lovell, M.D., is one of the most trusted and experienced internal medicine physicians in the Norfolk, Virginia, area. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and was the first African-American doctor to serve as president of the Virginia Board of Medicine.

After graduating with his medical degree, he completed his internship and residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York City. There, his excellence was recognized and he was named chief resident in 1976.
In 2007, Dr. Lovell was awarded Dominion’s Strong Men & Women: The Series, which highlights African-American men and women whose accomplishments and determination demonstrate true excellence in leadership.
When he isn’t providing quality care for patients at his private practice, Dr. Lovell enjoys spending time with his wife, Barbara, and his daughter, Sarah. Today, he is involved in Sigma Pi Phi fraternity and the Sigma Xi scientific research society.
