From our parent company in California...This Sunday, SOFI Stadium will dazzle like nothing ever seen. This project was built with the hands and minds of approximately 800 employees of Morrow-Meadows and our partner, Rosendin Electric. We overcame challenges like trying to feed 10,000 amps of power to a floating scoreboard 100 feet in the air and installing a lighting system on a unique roof structure. We did this all while working safely in an ever-changing work environment. It is a good time reflect on how far we have come as an organization from the days when we built supermarkets and department stores. We will be watching this Sunday with lumps in our throats from the pride we have in the work put into this while remembering the hard work and risks taken by our parents and our Uncles, along with Jim Morrow, in starting our business in 1964. We will be remembering Karen as well, along with the hundreds of employees who took that leap of faith to work for a small startup electrical contractor that built the reputation we cherish today. This Sunday we remember our past but salute our present and current employees. We congratulate all of you on a job well done! At the request of a client and local industry organizations, John Harriel, Superintendent and Diversity Manager out of our Corporate office in Southern California, conducted Racism and Bias training classes for over 350 people at an onsite 3-day event. The discussions were real, at times raw and impactful. John’s unique approach is designed to disarm and deescalate the fear and anger that often accompanies discussions of racism in our country. The sessions were not recorded so the participants could feel comfortable expressing their feelings in an open and non-confrontational setting. John’s unique approach gets directly to the heart of the issues people have experienced on the job and throughout their lives. These discussions help to identify and break down preconceived notions that prevent progress toward equal treatment. Thank you, John, for leading our efforts and educating us and our customers on how we can all become advocates for eliminating racism in our country.
